Indian smartphone shipments reach 150 million units in 2020, declines 1.7% YoY: IDC

The Indian smartphone market, after many years, has recorded a decline of 1.7% YoY for the year 2020, shipping a total 150 million units. During Q4, the market recorded shipment numbers of 45 million devices, growing 21% YoY, and the top 5 manufacturers were Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, realme and OPPO.

Moto E7 Power with 6.5-inch Max Vision display, 4GB RAM, 5000mAh battery launching in India on February 19

After rumours, Motorola today confirmed the launch of moto e7 Power smartphone in India on February 19th. The company has confirmed 6.5-inch HD+ Max Vision display, Octa-Core processor, which is rumoured to be MediaTek Helio G25, but a Geekbench listing says that it will be powered by Helio P22 SoC. It will come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, pack 13MP dual rear cameras and a 5000mAh battery with USB type-C port. Ather Energy begins production at 123,000 sqft. EV manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu

Ather Energy, makers of 450X electric scooter, has commenced production of their electric vehicles and batteries at their new EV manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The factory is spread over 1,23,000 sq. ft. and will have an annual capacity of 1,10,000 scooters and 1,20,000 battery packs.

Vivo patents foldable smartphone with penta rear camera setup

Folding smartphones still have a long way to go before they really become mainstream. That may change this year as Chinese smartphone manufacturers will reportedly be releasing their first foldable smartphones this year. According to a patent filed in August 2020, Vivo is developing a foldable smartphone that has its screen folding inwards.

Lenovo today launched the Tab P11 Pro, the company’s latest top-end tablet in the P series in India after it was introduced back in September last year. It has an 11.5-inch 2K OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, that supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Enhancing the media viewing experience are four JBL speakers with 2.5cc chambers and support for Dolby Atmos.
