Like Aircel , Airtel India has also announced on it’s Facebook page about it’s plans to launch the Apple iPhone 4S in India soon. As of now only Airtel and Aircel are the official operators authorized by Apple to sell the iPhone 4 in India. So this news is not very surprising. But then for those of you who have been waiting for the iPhone 4S to launch in India, good news ! We are not sure if Apple will get the pricing right though !
Aircel India just announced on it’s official Facebook page earlier today that it is bringing the Apple iPhone 4S to India soon. The company would be sharing more details about the launch soon. There are no details about the pricing or the plans but expect it to be similar to the iPhone 4 Pricing with a slight premium. Looks like Apple finally has an answer for the battery issue surrounding the iPhone 4S. Apple has released the first Over-the-Air update for all iOS devices running on iOs 5 such as the iPhone 3GS, 4 , 4S, iPad , iPad2 , iPod Touch ( 3rd gen and 4th Gen). The update is available Over-the-air meaning you won’t have to download a 700 odd MB file and use iTunes to update your device. In fact I have managed to update 2 iPhones and an iPod touch in a matter of minutes as the OTA update was just 44.6 MB for my iPhone.It would have taken to few hours or days required to download few GBs of files normally. If you are one amongst consumers who had purchased the iPhone 4S from outside India and were facing issues getting it to work here , good news for you. Many users including me were seeing no signal bars on the iPhone 4S in India. Calls and SMS were not working.Surprisingly 3G data was working fine on most operators including Airtel , Vodafone and BSNL. I had tried using some international SIM cards such as AT&T, T-Mobile , O2 UK, 3 UK, SmarTone (HK). Nokia India just sent us an invite for a launch event on Nov 14th. The invite talks about Amazing New Experiences. We are betting this is the India launch of the Windows Phone devices. Nokia announced the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices at Nokia World 2011 last month where the company promised to bring these devices to India before the end of the year. The Lumia 710 would be coming first followed by the Lumia 800 from what we have learnt. Interestingly both these devices use a microSIM card like the iPhone 4 , 4s and Nokia N9. Would be interesting to see how operators address this issue. Pricing wise the Lumia 710 is expected to be cheaper than the 800 and the stated pricing is 270 euros and the device can come at around Rs.20,000

If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates. This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.

Back at Nokia World 2011 we had the chance to get a neat little demo of the Nokia Lumia 710 from a Product Manager . The Lumia 710 which is going to be the most affordable Windows Phone device from Nokia along with changeable back covers and a user removable BP-3L 1300 mAh battery. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note in India yesterday at Rs.34500 and we got a chance to compare the beast with the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S. Here are some pictures for you. Looks like Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 4S in more countries on October 28th. The pre-order pages for the countries part of the Oct 28 launch went up few hours ago. Amongst those countries , the only country in Asia is Singapore where Apple products are normally priced similar to the United States. Here we have news of the Singapore prices of the iPhone 4S. Prices start from 948 SGD for the 16GB version , 1088 SGD for the 32GB version and 1238 SGD for the 64GB version.This works out to about Rs.38000 approx for the 16GB version , Rs.42500 approx for the 32GB version and Rs.48400 approx for the top-end 64GB variant. you might also have to pay GST or a Sales Tax in addition to the above price. From the pricing , one can assume that the device is sold unlocked but we don’t have confirmation of that.But the product family page mentions the word unlocked.The part number for the basic version is MD235ZA/A. Tata Tele Services the company behind the Tata Indicom CDMA service and that Tata Docomo GSM service announced today it is getting rid of the Tata Indicom brand and merging it with the Tata Docomo brand. All Tata Indicom customers will be migrated to Tata DOCOMO. The company announced the Photon Max service which is based on Rev-B CDMA technology which promises higher speeds compared to the company’s Photon service.
