Xiaomi launched the Mi 4 smartphone in India earlier today for Rs. 19,999, which goes on sale from February 10th. Xiaomi usually offers limited number of units for the Flipkart First subscribers, before the smartphone goes on sale for the first time on Flipkart. Today, Xiaomi and Flipkart have announced that the first 2500 Flipkart First subscribers who register to buy the Mi 4, will get the smartphone added to their cart automatically when it goes on sale on February 10th. Airtel has partnered with Nokia Networks to deploy FDD-LTE on 1800 MHz in six new (Mumbai, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal) circles across India, as expected. Last year Nokia Networks grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that included India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation. HTC has launched Desire 526G+ Dual Sim, the company’s latest smartphone in the Desire series. It has a 4.7-inch (960 x 540 pixels) display, is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with HTC Sense UI. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. HTC has partnered with Snapdeal to sell the smartphone. Xiaomi just launched the Mi 4 smartphone in India, as expected. It was announced back in July last year, packs a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 441 PPI, based one-glass solution (OGS), is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on MIUI 6 on top of Android 4.4 (KitKat). Apple has reported all-time record revenue of $74.6 billion with a record net profit of $18 billion in their earnings for the financial year Q1 2015 that ended December 27, 2014. Revenues were up 30% and earnings up 38% year-over-year. The international sales in this quarter is 65% of the quarter’s revenue, up 5% up compared to last quarter. Apple sold a record 74.5 million iPhones, compared to 23.4 million over last year, representing 46% growth, 21.4 million iPads, compared to 26 million year-over-year and 5.5 million Macs during the quarter. Asus has announced Zenfone C (ZC451CG), the company’s latest budget smartphone in the Zenfone series in Malaysia. It has almost similar specifications as the Asus Zenfone 4 (A450CG) that was launched last year, but the camera has been downgraded to 5-megapixel and the battery has been upgraded to 2100mAh. Lava has launched Iris X1 Mini and Iris X1 Grand, the company’s latest budget smartphones in the Iris X1 Series. It Iris X1 mini has a 4-inch WVGA screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, while the Iris X1 Grand has a 5-inch FWVGA IPS screen and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. Both the smartphones run on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). It promises Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Iris X1 Grand. Both these smartphones have the same design of last year’s Iris X1. Spice Group today announced an investment of Rs 500 crores to set up a mobile manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Uttar Pradesh for setting up the manufacturing unit in the state. Under the MoU, the Government of UP will support Spice Group in establishing the facility in the state of Uttar Pradesh in a time bound manner and facilitate the necessary infrastructure, ecosystem and incentives under various schemes announced by the State and Central Government. Samsung India today announced that it has invested INR. 517 crores for the expansion of the Noida plant under the UP Mega Policy. The plan was inaugurated by Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow today. Samsung’s latest Z1 Tizen smartphone will also be manufactured at the Noida facility with most of the phone’s software being developed at the Noida Research Centre, it said.
