Panasonic has launched P66 Mega, the company’s latest smartphone in the P-series in India. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and comes only with 3G connectivity, and not 4G. Google Public Alerts now offers flood alerts in India

Google today announced that it is now offering flood alerts through Google Public Alerts in India. This is provided by the Central Water Commission (CWC) using its observation stations for more than 170 areas. “These alerts are available on Google web search, Google Now cards in the Google app, Google Maps, and on the Public Alerts homepage, both on your computer and phone”, said google. Qualcomm Incorporated through Qualcomm Ventures has announced QPrize – Make in India contest in association with the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP). “The goal of this contest is to catalyze Indian entrepreneurs and the startup community to drive the entire value chain from innovation to manufacturing in India. The winner will receive an investment of Rs. 2 crores (approximately US$ 300,000),” said Qualcomm.

OnePlus slashed the price of OnePlus One smartphone permanently by $50 last year. Microsoft and GoPro ink patent licensing deal for file storage tech

Microsoft and GoPro have signed a cross-licensing patent agreement. Microsoft did not disclose the exact term of the deal, but it said that the new collaborative patent licensing agreement is for certain file storage and other system technologies. Since the company launched its IP licensing program in December 2003, it has entered into more than 1,200 licensing agreements with companies like Samsung, ZTE, LG, HTC, Acer, Dell and Motorola Solutions. Apple CEO Tim Cook at the Town Hall meeting at the Infinite Loop headquarters said that the Cupertino giant is in early preparations to bring its retail stores to India, reports 9to5Mac. He also said that India is one of Apple’s most important growth areas for the next decade. He commented that 4G LTE networks are not always available in an emerging market, which is why India makes for a great opportunity for Apple to sell it products.
