Panasonic has launched Eluga I3, the company’s latest smartphone in the Eluga series with support for 4G LTE and VoLTE. It has a 5.5-inch HD screen, is powered by a quad-core processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with FitHome UI, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has textured back and comes with dual SIM support.

MediaTek officially unveiled its Helio X20 deca (10) core SoC in May last year, which is being used in several smartphones. Details about the Helio X30, another deca-core SoC surfaced few months back, which said that the phone will use 16nm FinFET process technology, now Chinese electronics industry analyst Pan Jiutang has revealed the it will use 10nm FinFET process technology, similar to upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 SoC. After the Rs. 251 smartphone, Freedom 251 from Noida-based Ringing Bells, Docoss, a Jaipur-based company today launched its X1 smartphone for Rs. 888. It has a 4-inch WVGA display, is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor, has 1GB of RAM, comes with 3G connectivity and runs on Android 4.4 (Kitkat). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera.

Apple today reports its earnings for the financial year Q2 2016. Even though Apple sold only 51.2 million iPhones in the quarter compared to 61.2 million in the year-ago quarter, down 16%, during the conference call Apple CEO said that iPhone is still attracting millions of first-time smartphone buyers each quarter, especially from emerging markets. Apple has reported revenue of $50.6 billion with a net profit of $10.5 billion in their earnings for the financial year Q2 2016 that ended March 26, 2015. Revenues were down 13% year-over-year and quarterly profit fell 22.5% as revenue declined for the first time since 2003. Sales were down across all the categories. Apple sold 51.2 million iPhones in the quarter compared to 61.2 million in the year-ago quarter, a decline of 16%.
