Huawei’s Honor brand just launched the Honor 8, the company’s latest high-end smartphone in India as it had promised. It was announced in China back in July. It packs a 5.2-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 950 processor with 4GB of RAM and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with EMUI 4.1. It has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, one with monochrome and other with color sensor to capture crisper, more detailed photos. Asus launched Zenfone 3 Laser, successor of last year’s Zenfone Laser in India back in August, today it started selling the smartphone in the country. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 77% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 430 SoC, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with ZenUI, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor and 2nd gen laser auto focus that lets you focus in 0.03 seconds. Android 7.1 Developer Preview with App shortcuts, Image keyboard and more to roll out this month

Google showed preview of Android 7.1 (Nougat), the next incremental Android update at the Pixel launch event last week. Today it has announced that it will release open developer preview of Android 7.1 for select Nexus devices later this month. This brings new features for consumers and developers, including better Daydream VR support and A/B system updates such as app shortcuts and image keyboard support.  It also brings optimizations and bug fixes as wells as new APIs (API level 25). It also has LTE modem integration, making it the first in class with built-in LTE. It recently started mass production of Exynos 7 Quad 7570 14nm processor for budget smartphones and IoT devices. The camera is present in the centre and there are antenna lines are seen above it. This could be the rumored Galaxy C9 that surfaced in benchmarks recently.

Reliance Jio signs record 16 million new subscribers in 26 days of launch

Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) had launched 4G services for its employees in December last year and it officially launched for all on September 5th. Today the company has announced that it has signed record 16 million new subscribers in 26 days of its commercial operations. “Jio has achieved this growth faster than any other telecom operator or start up in the world including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype,” said the company.
