American cellular operator, Sprint, announced that it will be carrying a new Windows Phone running smartphone called the Samsung ATIV S Neo. The new handset will sport some rather interesting features including what is being called as ATIV Beam. Facebook working on Flipboard style news reader says WSJ

Facebook is rumored to be working on a new reader service that is internally known simply as Reader. The service displays content in a format geared towards mobile usage and draws data from Facebook users and publishers. The application is said to closely resemble Flipboard in terms of interface.

HTC just introduced the successor to the Butterfly at an event in Taiwan. Called the Butterfly S, the handset looks very similar to the model it replaces. However, the phone has now been equipped with the same front facing BoomSound speakers as seen on the HTC One. The operating system too gets the HTC’s spanking new Sense 5 UI layer that we quite liked when we reviewed the One.

Lava just introduced its new handset, the Iris 504q, at an event in Delhi. Powered by a 1.2Ghz MediaTek processor, the handset also has 1GB of RAM. The Android 4.2 running phone is geared towards media consumption thanks to the large 5 inch HD 720p display. A front facing 2MP camera is provided to facilitate video calls while a rear facing 8MP shooter takes care of photography duties. Samsung Galaxy NX mirrorless camera with Android onboard shows up in press shots

Samsung’s JK Shin today hinted that the company might be ready to announce an Android powered mirrorless camera soon and right on cue, press images have turned up for the device. The images that first shower up on a Vietnamese gadget site depict the Galaxy NX which has interchangeable lenses and an Android device tacked on at the back.

Google Gesture Search updated to recognize 40 languages

Google has pushed out an update for its gesture search application for Android. The application that is available on phones and tablets is now compatible with a larger range of languages. Google’s gesture search application provides quick access to oft used applications, contacts, music, settings and bookmarks by allowing users to draw characters on the screen.

The application recognizes 40 languages and can handle transliterations as well and this will be appreciated for those entering characters in China. The application should come in handy to facilitate quick usage on phones. The application received tablet support last year and was initially introduced as a Google Labs project in 2010.
