Worldwide tablet market posts just 3.9% growth YoY in Q1 2014, down 35.7% QoQ

Samsung and Apple are still the leading tablet vendors by shipments in Q1 2014, according to preliminary data from research firm IDC (International Data Corporation). The worldwide tablet market grew just 3.9% year-over-year in Q1 2014, with shipments of 50.4 million units in the quarter, down 35.7% compared to last quarter. Yesterday IDC reported worldwide smartphone shipments that was down just 2.8% compared to the holiday quarter. It was leaked recently and packs a 7-inch (1280 × 800 pixels) HD display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS that is upgradeable to Android 4.4 (KitKat). . Acer Iconia B1-730, successor of the Iconia B1-720 has surfaced on Amazon and Acer Retailer website. This doesn’t mention the specifications of the tablet but MobileGeeks got hold of the specifications of the device. According to the website, it would come with a 7-inch (1280 × 800 pixels) HD display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and runs on Android Jelly Bean OS.

Japan Display now shipping samples of 10.1 4K displays

Japan Display is one of leading producers of smartphone displays and the Japanese company has now started shipping the samples of its 10.1inch 4K displays. The 10.1inch LCD display has a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels ( 3840 – horizontal and 2160 – vertical) and the display is being called 4K2K display. We are yet to see 4K TVs become mainstream, but the 4K fever has already started catching on to the tablet industry.

Google Nexus 8 made by HTC reportedly coming in Q3 2014

Earlier this year there were reports about Asus making the next Nexus tablet, but a recent report from DigiTimes claims that HTC would be making the next Nexus tablet that would launch sometime in Q3 2014. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (P5200) has been listed on official Samsung India eStore at Rs. 36,340. It was announced back in June last year and packs a 10.1-inch (1280×800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a SIM slot and supports 3G connectivity. Samsung launched the 7-inch and 8-inch variants last year and introduced buyback offers for these tablets recently.
