Google Nexus 8 could be powered by 64-bit Tegra K1 processor

We have heard several rumors and speculation about Nexus 6 smartphone and the Nexus 8 tablet. Now, reports are surfacing online that the Nexus 8 could be launched at the upcoming Google’s I/O conference in June.

According to a report from Myce, references to the upcoming tablet have been found within the source code files for the latest builds of Android 4.4 KitKat. Known internally as both Volantis and Flounder. It also shows the device will be Tegra-based, with mention of both a 32-bit and a 64-bit CPU. If this is true, the Nexus 8 will come in line with the iPad mini 2 and its 64-bit Apple A7 processor.

Very few details and specifications of the device are known. Earlier this month, Chromium Code Review boasts of references showed Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 in the making.  Reports in April also suggested that the Nexus 8 will be made by HTC.

Google I/O developer conference is scheduled on June 25 and 26, so lets hope we might see the Nexus 8 then.
