World’s first Symbian^2 device starts shipping from Japan

Symbian today announced that Symbian^2 (S^2) platform will be running on the 4 new devices from NTT DOCOMO INC which was unveiled on 18 May 2010 viz the docomo PRIME series™ F-06B, docomo STYLE series™ F-07B and docomo STYLE series F-08B, manufactured by Fujitsu Limited and the docomo PRIME series SH-07B, manufactured by Sharp Corporation.

Nokia and Yahoo

Nokia and Yahoo have finally announced a partnership today in New York which was codenamed as Project Nike prior to this.  This might be significant for Nokia who has an ever declining market share in USA which is one of the most competitive mobile markets in the world.  Nokia and Yahoo will collaborate on Email , IM , Maps. Espoo, Finland – Nokia has today announced plans to release a new version of Ovi Maps for its smartphones that includes high-end walk and drive navigation at no extra cost, available for download at www.nokia.com/maps. This move has the potential to nearly double the size of the current mobile navigation market. The new version of Ovi Maps includes high-end car and pedestrian navigation features, such as turn-by-turn voice guidance for 74 countries, in 46 languages, and traffic information for more than 10 countries, as well as detailed maps for more than 180 countries.

Nokia joins forces with New Alliance for a joint venture in mobile services in China

Nokia today announced that it has joined forces with New Alliance, an investment company which is part of the Shanghai Alliance Investment Ltd, to form a 50/50 joint venture company which is designed to offer a range of mobile services in China and support the local developer ecosystem.
