Oplus has launched XonPhone 5, the company’s latest smartphone as we reported. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display based on one-glass-solution, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). LG Electronics has announced their earnings for Q2 2014, in which it has reported net profit of 412 billion Won (US$ 399.8 million) with operating profits of 606 billion Won (US$ 588.5 million). Mobile communications sector earned revenues of 3.62 trillion Korean Won (US$ 3.51 billion), 16% increase YoY. Gionee has released the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for the Elife E7 mini in India. The company rolled out KitKat update for the Elife S5.5 and CTRL V5 smartphones in India earlier this month. Unlike the OTA update for those phones, update for the Elife E7 mini needs to be installed via flash tools. The Elife E7 mini went on sale in India back in April running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), and the KitKat update brings revamped user interface, enhanced features like an updated Amigo paper and game zone, wallpapers application, improved security and more. After launching on iOS and Andorid, Uber has parked its car at the Windows Phone Store. The popular on demand car service has officially announced the release of Windows Phone. Prior to this, Uber users had to access the service via its mobile site. The Uber Windows Phone app is mostly similar to its iOS and Android counterpart barring few Microsoft Metro UI redesign.

As expected, Xiaomi continued their flash sale marketing with their first sale in India on 22nd July. This came after a week of registrations, when over a lakh Indians registered to be eligible to buy the device when it goes on sale. With a VFM proposition as lucrative as the Xiaomi Mi3’s it wasn’t surprising that the device got sold out in under 40 minutes of going on sale.

Earlier this month Gameloft announced that the Modern Combat 5: Blackout would launch on Android, iPhone and iPad on July 24th. Recently Gameloft has announced that the game would also launch on Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 this Thursday. Gameloft launched 16 games for Windows Phone 8 last year and would bring all upcoming HD titles to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 platforms immediately after they launch. Xiaomi Mi3 went on sale in India yesterday. The Indian variant runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box with MIUI ROM on top. Today the unit has received a major update to version KXDMIBE18.0 that brings new features, optimizations and fixes.
