Gionee has launched CTRL V6L and Pioneer P5L LTE smartphone and has announced P4S and P6 smartphones. The Gionee CTRL V6L has a 5-inch HD screen, powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Pioneer P5L has a 4.7-inch FWVGA screen, powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with a magnetic keyboard that has a touchpad so that it can double up as a laptop.

Sharp develops ultra sharp 4.1 inch LCD display with 736ppi

Sharp has developed a new 4.1” IGZO LCD display with 736 pixels per inch (ppi). According to Sharp, its new display has the same pixel density as a 6-inch 4K display. The highest-resolution LCD panel that the company has so far developed is a low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) panel that has a resolution slightly lower than 550ppi.

Few months back the app got improved support for Intel SoCs, option to view OpenGL ES version. Now the app has been updated to version 1.09 that brings improved support for processors based on big.LITTLE technology, adds new HiSilicon Kirin 920, Exynos 5433, Snapdragon 815 (could be upcoming chip) and SoCs, shows Adreno GPU clock speed and more.

Nokia Networks bags dual band, dual carrier 3G contract from Airtel

Nokia Networks has announced that it has grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that includes India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation, refarming 900 MHz to complement Mumbai’s existing 3G network on 2100 MHz. This would enable advanced radio platform and services, thus improved 3G services for Bharti Airtel’s customers in Mumbai, West Bengal and Bihar telecom circles, said the company.
