Alcatel has launched 3T 8, the company’s latest tablet in India. It packs a 8-inch (1280 x 800 Pixels) display, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT8765 processor, runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo), has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 4G VoLTE connectivity via SIM and support for voice calling through headset or speaker.

Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 9240 crore revenue, up 13.9% QoQ and 50.3 YoY and a net profit of 681 crore, up 11.3% QoQ for its fifth quarterly financial performance for the period that ended 30th September, 2018. Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 3,573 crore, up 13.5% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 38.7%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 2,042 crore, up 19.6% QoQ . Consolidated value of services stood at 10,901 crore, up 13.9% over trailing quarter. It has 252.3 million subscribers as of September 30th, achieving it in 25 months of commencemnt of services.
Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S4, successor of last year’s Galaxy Tab S3, after it was introduced in August. It has a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA screen, is powered by a Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 SoC and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo). It has quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN, similar to the predecessor and comes with an an enhanced S Pen. It has got rid of the fingerprint scanner and the home button on the front for Iris scanner.
In addition to S5 Pro, Lenovo also introduced the K5 Pro and K5s smartphones. The K5 Pro packs a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 636 with up to 6GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with ZUI on top, has a 16-megapixel front and rear cameras along with a 5-megapixel secondary front and rear cameras, both with LED flash and AI portraits. It has a fingerprint sensor on the back and packs a 4050mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
Lenovo has announced S5 Pro, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in China, as it had promised. It has a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 636 with 6GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with ZUI 5.0, has a 20-megapixel rear camera along with a secondary 12-megapixel camera with AI portraits and 2x loss-less zoom. Vivo just announced Z3, the company’s latest smartphone in the ‘Z series’ in China. It has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with slim bezels on the sides, 90% screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by Snapdragon 670 AIE / Snapdragon 710, depending on the model with 6GB of RAM, has a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture along with a 2-megapixel secondary camera for AI portrait shots. Following the tradition, iFixit has performed a teardown of the Pixel 3 XL giving some insight into the phone’s hardware. Interestingly, it is found that the Pixel 3 XL is using an OLED panel from Samsung. iFixit also mentioned that it is fairly difficult to open the Pixel 3 XL, due to copious amounts of foam adhesive. Samsung has announced that it will acquire Zhilabs, known for its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based network and service analytics, to further enhance its 5G capabilities. This will boost 5G offerings of automation and network analytics to finely tune the customer experiences in the 5G era. The company last month commited KRW 25 trillion investment over the next three years to acquire companies to boost artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, automotive electronics components and biopharmaceuticals.
