OPPO just launched the Reno7 and Reno7 Pro 5G smartphones in the Reno7 series in India, as it had promised. The Reno7 has a 6.43-inch screen and the Reno7 Pro features a 6.55-inch screen, both with OLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate. The OPPO Reno7 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC and the Reno7 Pro is powered by Dimensity 1200-Max that promises enhanced display, better imaging and video clarity. These run ColorOS 12 based on Android 11, and the company says that Android 12 is expected to roll out in Q1 to Q2 2022. After several delays, Indian government at the budget 2022-23 announced that 5G spectrum auctions will be conducted in 2022 and the 5G services will be rolled out by by private telecom providers within 2022- 23. Reliance Jio already announced that it is ready for deployment after the spectrum auction. Airtel and Vodafone Idea have also been conducting trials. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, the Indian smartphone market recorded its highest ever shipments of 169 million units in 2021, growing an impressive 11% YoY. However, the market did witness a decline of 8% YoY during Q4 2021, and the top 5 manufacturers were Xiaomi, Samsung, vivo, realme, and OPPO.
