Samsung leads the Indian tablet market as shipments surpass 1 million again in Q2 2013

Samsung is leading yet another consumer electronics segment in India, and this is after conquering the mobile category. Yes, the company is now leading the rapidly growing tablet segment too, with 21% of marketshare according to CyberMedia Research’s analysts. The overall tablet market too has massively improved in India, with about 1.15 million shipments in the last quarter – Q2 of 2013. This is a 27& QoQ increase and a huge 107% increase year-on-year. But the Indian market is predominantly 7 inch and other similarly sized small tablets, with about 70 vendors actively part of the whole market making it highly fragmented.

Flipkart, one of the leading e-commerce platform in India has finally released a native Android app to shop easily. The app also offers voice search and barcode scanning to check for products, share the details with others and also add a widget to the homescreen. Flipkart launched eBooks app for Android last year. The app was released for iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone 8 devices last month. The Flipkart app would be available for other platforms soon. Flipkart also has a mobile site Flipkart Lite. LG G2 Benchmarks

LG unveiled the G2, the company’s latest flagship smartphone at an event last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device recently. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.27 GHz with 480 MHz Adreno 330 GPU. The Xperia Z Ultra was clocked at 2.15 GHz, but the G2 is clocked at 2.27 GHz as you can see in the CPU-Z in the image above. We brought you the benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800 on a reference smartphone few months back. Here we have also compared it in these benchmarks to show you the difference. Even though this one is slightly undercloked than the original chip that is clocked at 2.3 GHz, benchmarks are almost similar.

ZTE becomes India’s leading Data Card vendor with 30.2% marketshare in Q2, 2013

ZTE, the Chinese company known for its communication infrastructure solutions and even smartphone products, is now the leading Data Card vendor in India, with a user base of 63.04% of the total Data Card users. The CyberMedia Research team had released these statistics for the Indian market in their website sometime back, where they actually noted a decline in the Data Card market from the previous year but compared to the last quarter, Q2 has seen a 66.7% growth and about 30.2% of all the new shipments are ZTE cards, according to the data.

Opera has also added 2 more OEMs, Symphony Mobile in Bangladesh and Colors Mobile in Nepal in South Asia region. Opera partnered with 7 Indian OEMs Celkon, Karbonn, Lava. Micromax has launched the Canvas Tab P650, the company’s first tablet in the Canvas series. It has a 8-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) multi-touch display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with 720p HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 3G support via a SIM card slot and has voice calling capabilities.

It comes pre-loaded with Opera mini browser, Spuul to watch free movies online, Music Hub to get access to songs online and M! Live to download HD/premium games. The M! Security app lets you Back-Up the phone Tracke the tab remotely and Anti-Virus features. It also comes with Look away to pause, Video pinning, pop-up browser and OTA update support similar to the latest Canvas smartphones. This tab would compete with the recently launched Xolo Tab.
