Aircel has partnered with Micromax to launch Canvas Beat, a new music smartphone. It went on sale recently as Canvas Beat A114R and packs a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Vidcore IV GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support, similar to other Canvas smartphones.

Gionee Elife E7 mini gets Android 4.4 Kitkat update in India

Gionee has released the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for the Elife E7 mini in India. The company rolled out KitKat update for the Elife S5.5 and CTRL V5 smartphones in India earlier this month. Unlike the OTA update for those phones, update for the Elife E7 mini needs to be installed via flash tools. The Elife E7 mini went on sale in India back in April running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), and the KitKat update brings revamped user interface, enhanced features like an updated Amigo paper and game zone, wallpapers application, improved security and more. Xiaomi Mi3 sellout on Flipkart: How many devices?

As expected, Xiaomi continued their flash sale marketing with their first sale in India on 22nd July. This came after a week of registrations, when over a lakh Indians registered to be eligible to buy the device when it goes on sale. With a VFM proposition as lucrative as the Xiaomi Mi3’s it wasn’t surprising that the device got sold out in under 40 minutes of going on sale.

Xiaomi Mi3 went on sale in India yesterday. The Indian variant runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box with MIUI ROM on top. Today the unit has received a major update to version KXDMIBE18.0 that brings new features, optimizations and fixes. This is a global update for the Mi3 that is already available in Malaysia, Philippines and more countries, where it launched the smartphone. Earlier this year Idea Cellular tied up with Opera Software to launch Idea Web Pass that lets users enjoy customized, time-based mobile internet packages within the Opera Mini browser. Earlier this month Idea introduced Sponsored Web Pass that offered 10 MB of internet access for a day sponsored by Quikr. Today Idea has introduced a new Free Internal Trial Pass that offers their customers 200,000 hours of free internet access, over the next 20 days through the web pass service on Opera Mini. BlackBerry has reduced the price of a range of QWERTY smartphones in India that includes the Q5, 9720 and the Curve 9320. The BlackBerry Q5 that was launched in India back in July last year for Rs. 24,990 got a price cut to Rs. 19,990 earlier this year. It is now available for Rs. 13990. The BlackBerry 9720 that was launched in India for Rs. 15,990 last September has got a price cut to Rs. 11,990. The BlackBerry Curve 9320 that was launched back in 2012 for Rs. 15990 has got a price cut to Rs. 9900.
