Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs has unveiled Saga, a flagship Android mobile phone with unique functionality and features tightly integrated with the Solana blockchain making it easy and secure to transact in web3 and manage digital assets, such as tokens and NFTs. The firm has also launched Solana Mobile Stack (SMS), an open-source software toolkit for Android enabling native Android web3 apps, and the Saga smartphone will pre-equip this SMS. Global smartphone shipments expected to decline 3.5% in 2022: IDC

According to International Data Corporation (IDC), global smartphone shipments will fall 3–3.5% to 1.31–1.36 billion units in 2022, indicating that the market will continue to decline. The company has changed its earlier forecast for shipments from a growth of 1.6% to a decrease of 3.5%, which would bring the total to 1.31 billion units. Global smartphone shipments decline 8.9% YoY in Q1 2022: IDC

The global smartphone shipments decline 8.9% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same January to March quarter in 2021, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). This is a decline for the third consecutive quarter, as shipments fell to 314.1 million units in Q1 2022 compared to 344.7 million in Q1 2021. India smartphone market records 7% growth, 13% YoY online growth in 2021: IDC

According to the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) quarterly and annual report, India smartphone market saw 161 million smartphones in 2021, up by 7% YoY (year-over-year), despite supply constraints due to the ongoing pandemic. The report also says that online market saw 81 million unit shipments, up 13% YoY, surpassing the offline channel due to marketing and festive sales as well as, attractive financing schemes, cashback & exchange offers, and trade-in programs. India smartphone market shipped 169 million units in 2021, records 11% YoY growth: Report

According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, the Indian smartphone market recorded its highest ever shipments of 169 million units in 2021, growing an impressive 11% YoY. However, the market did witness a decline of 8% YoY during Q4 2021, and the top 5 manufacturers were Xiaomi, Samsung, vivo, realme, and OPPO.

Global smartphone market shipped 1.35 billion units in 2021, records 5.7% growth

The global smartphone market witnessed an overall growth of 5.7% in 2021 when compared to 2020, after shipping a total of 1.35 billion units. However, the market did witness a a decline in shipments during Q4 of 2021, shipping a total of 362.4 million phones, which calculates to 3.2% YoY decline.

India smartphone market records 12% YoY decline in Q3 2021, shipped 48 million units: IDC

The International Data Corporation (IDC) has released their quarterly India smartphone market report for the third quarter of 2021. According to it, the market declined 12% YoY after 4 quarters of continuous growth, shipping a total of 48 million units. The top 5 manufacturers were Xiaomi, Samsung, vivo, realme and OPPO.
