ZTE has announced Grand S3, successor of last year’s Grand S II smartphone at the MWC 2015. The main highlight of the smartphone is its Eyeprint ID password-free eye-based biometric unlocking solution from EyeVerify. It works by imaging unique vein patterns in the human eye using the smartphone’s front facing camera, says the company.
Lenovo has launched A series tablet Tab 2 A10-70 at the MWC 2015. The tablet is priced at $199 for Wi-Fi models and $279 for LTE models and will be available starting April. The HTC One M9 has finally been made official here at a separate press event in Barcelona, just ahead of the Mobile World Congress. For HTC, the event is not just about the One M9, it’s about a bold new step they are taking, by revisiting their roots as a partner-company. But at the same time, the Taiwanese manufacturer is not letting its guard down in the smartphone space, which is slowly starting to get saturated with lack of useful innovation or differentiation. Huawei just announced the MediaPad X2, the company’s latest phablet and the successor of last year’s MediaPad X1 at the Mobile World Congress 2015. It has the same 7-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) IPS display, but this is powered by a 2.0 GHz Kirin 930 64 bit octa-core processor and runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 3.0 on top. Acer has announced Liquid Z220 and Liquid Z520, two new budget Android smartphones in the Z series ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona. The Liquid Z220 is the company’s first budget smartphone with Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has a 4-inch WVGA display, is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with 89-degree wide-angle lens. The Liquid Z520 has a 5-inch FWVGA display, is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core quad processor and comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera. Both these smartphones have a 2-megapixel front facing and dual SIM support.
