DoT asks Vodafone and Idea to stop 3G Intra-circle roaming


The Department of Telecom (DoT) have asked Vodafone India and Idea Cellular to stop 3G services outside their licensed zones in 3 days, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT has also asked these companies to pay Rs. 550 and Rs. 300 crore, respectively for violating licence norms. DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles last month and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Later Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. Vodafone launches Super Fan contest for IPL 2013


IPL 2013 is starting tomorrow, with the opening ceremony kicking off in few hours. Vodafone has launched the Super Fan contest for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013. This contest would let 76 lucky Vodafone customers stand a chance to win a match ball autographed by the winning captain on Live TV during 76 matches, in the 54 day long tournament. Vodafone India has launched customer support through live chat. This service lets Vodafone customers chat to the customer care executive to solve their queries about their connection. This saves a lot of time since it connects quickly, unlike a call to customer support that would have several procedures before it connects to a customer care executive. Nokia launches Nokia Music Store operator billing on Vodafone in India


Nokia brought Nokia Store Operator billing on Vodafone and Airtel earlier this year, now the operator billing service is available for the  Nokia Music Store on Vodafone. The operator billing is available for the Music Store on the Nokia Asha phones that would let the users renew their subscriptions via their Vodafone pre-paid or post-paid account and continue to download unlimited songs and albums from the Nokia Music Store. Nokia already offers subscription purchase via credit cards and vouchers, with this Nokia Music Store becomes the first independent music store in the country to offer integrated operator billing. Vodafone to accept Aadhaar as Identity and Address proof for a new connection

Vodafone has been appointed as the official Authentication Service Agency (ASA) and Authentication User Agency (AUA) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). They launched the Proof of Concept (PoC) for use of Aadhaar as valid Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) using the Aadhaar online authentication procedure in Andhra Pradesh. Vodafone India announces Drive into the Big League contest for SMEs

Vodafone has announced Vodafone Drive into the Big League contest for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This is the second season of the contest for the second Indian Grand Prix that would be held in Delhi from October 26 to 28, 2012. This would offer an opportunity for small and medium enterprises to take center stage with their logo on Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing cars. Vodafone received close to 80,000 entries for the first season. Vodafone officially announces new 3G data plans


Vodafone has officially announced its new 3G data plans. Vodafone reduced its 3G tariffs for pre-paid customers last month, but the plans were not clear. Later they announced post-paid 3G plans that were applicable only in select circles. These new plans start from Rs. 25 for 25 MB data usage and go up to Rs. 1599 for 12 GB of data usage. Vodafone new 3G post-paid plans


Vodafone has reduced the price of their 3G plans for post-paid customers as well. They launched new 3G plans for pre-paid customers last week.  Rs. 100 plan now offers 300MB of 3G data usages similar to the new pre-paid plan.
