Airtel today announced that it has partnered with HMD Global to offer affordable 4G smartphone options to customers as part of Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative. Under this partnership Nokia 2 and Nokia 3, 4G smartphones are now available with cashback of Rs. 2000 from Airtel.
Reliance Jio has launched Jio Football offer that offers Rs. 2,200 instant cashback for all new smartphones getting added on to Jio’s network. When a new smartphone user does a Rs. 198 or Rs. 299 recharge for the first time, starting today until 31st March 2018, the 44 vouchers of Rs. 50 will be credited to the customers MyJio account. These vouchers can be redeemed instantly against subsequent recharges of Rs 198 or Rs. 299 on MyJio.
Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in India at an event in Delhi. At the launch the company announced that it has partnered with Reliance Jio to give the Biggest Jio offer ever to the Note 5 and Note 5 Pro users to its customers. The company had first partnered with Jio for Redmi 5A last year that offered Rs. 1000 cashback to the buyers.
Reliance Jio unveiled JioPhone, the company’s first VoLTE feature phone back in July and started pre-bookings in August. Airtel and Hotstar today announced a strategic partnership to bring Hotstar’s digital content to Airtel users in India. With this new partnership, the company is expanding its Airtel TV content and now has access to the largest digital content portfolios in India.
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has finally launched 4G services in India starting from Kerala. BSNL 4G services will be available at five locations – Udumbanchola, Udumbanchola Town, Kallupalam, Chemmannar and Senapathy in Kerala in the high range Idukki district and is expected to be roll out to other districts in Kerala later this year. Vodafone today launched VoLTE services in India starting from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Gujarat (Surat and Ahmedabad). With this option, now Vodafone users can enjoy HD quality voice calls with faster call set up time compared to normal voice calls on their VoLTE-compatible 4G handsets. Vodafone has launched VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) services in India in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Gujarat (Surat and Ahmedabad), as the company had promised, after testing it recently. After reports of Reliance Jio launching Jio Coin soon, several fake apps with the name JioCoin started cropping up on the Google Play Store and in recent weeks soliciting investments in crypto currencies from people. Reliance Jio today confirmed that it has not launched any JioCoin App and said that any such apps using the JioCoin name are fake.

Back in October last year, a report said that Reliance Jio will stop the JioPhone production to focus on Android smartphone, but it resumed the sale of the phone later. Today at an event TL Lee, Head of Mobiles at MediaTek said that the company will partner with Reliance Jio to launch a new Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in India this year under the LYF brand. He also said that the phone will be powered by MT6739 SoC. JioPhone uses Spreadtrum SP9820A and Qualcomm 205 SoCs.

Reliance Jio is said to be in talks with Xiaomi for exclusive rights to sell smartphones and TVs in India similar to what it has with Apple. If everything works out, Jio will exclusively sell Xiaomi phones and TVs through the Jio retail network and the Reliance Digital chain of stores, according to a new report from ET.
