In March last year Vodafone India and Idea Cellular announced merger of both the companies, which was expected to close last year. Earlier this week the companies said that the management team of the combined business would be confirmed prior to closing, which is now expected to complete in the first half of the current calendar year. Today they have announced the leadership team of the combined business, which will come into effect after the merger has been completed. It is currently available in Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Bijnor, Budaun, Bulandshahar, Dehradun, Etawah, Firozabad, Roorkee, Hardwar, Haldwani, Mainpuri, Mathura, Meerut, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Rudrapur, Rampur and Saharanpur, and will gradually roll out across other cities in the state. Reliance Jio introduced the JioFi 3 back in 2016, which we unboxed in early 2017. Last year the company seems to have silently introduced JioFi 4 (JMR1140) and JioFi 5 (JMR814). Now the company has started selling JioFi JMR815, which should be JioFi 6. This measures 74 x 74 x 20mm and weighs just 95g with a 3000mAh, which is bigger than the previous JioFi models. Samsung launched the Galaxy S9+ in India last week and the phone went on sale in the country from today. As it had announced at the launch event, the 256GB version of the S9+ is exclusively Reliance Digital stores and Jio Stores in addition to Samsung exclusive stores and Samsung Shop. It also said that those who do a cumulative recharge of minimum Rs. 2500 within 12 months from any of the available Jio plans, they would be eligible for 70% of the MRP as buyback amount on return of the device after a year when the S9+ 256GB version is purchased at Reliance Digital Stores, Jio Stores or Jio.com.

Reliance Jio a few days back started offering 10GB free data for users that is automatically added in their account. This data is mentioned as Add-on pack and is shown under your plan. It also says that the pack is worth Rs. 301, which is old rate for the pack. The 10GB data is valid for 28 days, so the 10GB data will expire by the end of March. Vodafone launched VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) services in India last month starting from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Gujarat. Now it has launched VoLTE in Maharashtra and Goa, and Jaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan, which will soon expand in other cities of the state soon. Vodafone is calling it Super VoLTE and said that the technology delivers high-quality sound over voice calls across the Vodafone SuperNet 4G network so that users will experience ultra-clear voice quality and reduced background noise. Idea Cellular has announced that it has started rolling out VoLTE services in some of its circles – Maharashtra & Goa, Kerala, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh & Telangana initially for its employees in the first phase. Commercial roll out will begin soon circle-by-circle. The company had promised to roll out VoLTE services by the end of 2017. Aircel has filed for bankruptcy protection under Section 10 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in Mumbai, after mounting losses and Malaysia’s Maxis Communications who has 74% stake in the company decided not to infuse more funds. Aircel said that agreement could not be reached with respect to restructuring of its debt and funding after discussions with the financial lenders and shareholders.
