Razer acquired Nextbit back in January this year and stopped selling Nextbit Robin smartphones, but it already promised software updates for the smartphone for 6 more months. Today the company has announced that it has ended customer support for the phone starting August 1st. Razer, global lifestyle brand for gamers has confirmed that it has acquired the majority of the assets of Nextbit Systems Inc. and has brought onboard the management and employees of the company. Financial details of the transaction, which closed earlier this month, were not disclosed. Razer acquired audio company THX last year. Nextbit has finally started rolling out Android 7.0 (Nougat) for its community beta testers. Nextbit said that it has worked with members of Paranoid Android, who are now part of its development team. Both have joined forces to bring a faster, less power-hungry OS. Nexbit announced the Robin, its “cloud first” Android smartphone back in September last year for $399 through Kickstarter. It was available for $299 for the first 1,000 early Kickstarter backers. Later was released in the US through Amazon at a price of $399. It got a price cut few months back to $299, later it was available for $199.99.
