LG Electronics has reported revenues of 16.06 trillion won (US$ 13.65 billion) for the fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2019, which is up 2.3% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 101.8 billion won (US$ 86.5 million), up 26.1% YoY, while net profit was down 953% YoY to 849.8 billion won (US$ 717 billion). This is due to losses in its equity ties with LG display, in which it has 37.9% stake and sluggish smartphone sales. LG Display is said to post more than 1 trillion won in losses in 2019, according to analysts, and we should know the exact figures when it posts the results on Friday. After announcing the G8X ThinQ back in September 2019 at the IFA, the South Korean company has launched the flagship device in the Indian market in Aurora Black color at Rs. 49,999 bundled with LG Dual Screen accessory.
While we loved the LG V40 ThinQ, our expectation were sky-high for this device considering its dual display feature. LG have only now announced their roadmap for Android 10 updates in 9 smartphones, with some phones only getting it in Q4 of 2020.

8K TVs are coming this year and of course, LG Electronics will be showing off its best of the best at CES 2020. For this year, LG will showcase its expanded 8K TV lineup, with new 77-inch and 65-inch joining the existing premium lineup of 88- and 75-inch screen sizes, featuring its new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 3 AI Processor.
Last year, many smartphone brands launched a new series of online-only devices and LG was one among them too. The company launched its W-series of smartphones in India, but there were no signs of a flagship smartphone launch. Last month, the company launched its flagship G8X ThinQ smartphone in India after announcing it in September 2019 at the IFA. It packs a 6.4-inch FullVision FHD+ OLED display, is powered by Snapdragon 855 with 6GB of RAM, runs Android Pie with improved user interface with a cleaner design, refreshed icons and tabs such as Dial, Call logs, and Contacts moving to the bottom of the display so that users can get even more done with only one hand, has dual rear cameras, 13MP 136-degree super wide-angle and 12MP standard sensor. LG Electronics is slated to launch their next generation Ultra series monitors during CES 2020 next year. The new Ultra series, part of its premium monitor segment, will feature three main models; the UltraFine for the professionals, UltraGear for the gamers and the UltraWide for the widescreen enthusiasts.

LG has filed lawsuits against Chinese handset manufacturer TCL in Germany for infringing its LTE technology patents. Three lawsuits include, minimizing the loss of packet transmission, control timers for uplink synchronization and interference reduction in the uplink synchronizing process.
