LG announces Android 11 update timeline for VELVET 5G / 4G, G8X, G8S, WING and more

LG  has released its timeline for upgrading its Android
11-ready portfolio to the latest Android OS as confirmed on the LG Denmark Site. The rollout is planned to commence in from April 2021 starting with LG VELVET 5G. Owners of the G8X will also be among the first to experience Android 11 in Q2, said the company. The VELVET 4G and G8S uses will have to wait till Q3 2021, while the WING, K52 and K42 users will have to wait till Q4 2021. LG 48CX OLED TV with Dolby Vision IQ, HDMI 2.1 and more launched in India

LG has announced the launch of the newest member of their OLED family of TVs, called the 48CX. It is the smallest TV in the lineup, featuring their Alpha 9 processor, support for Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos, HGiG colour profile for HDR gaming and more.

LG opens WebOS TV platform to third-party TV manufacturers

LG reports record profit in 2020 but mobile losses continue

LG Electronics today reported revenues of 63.26 trillion won (US$ 56.45 billion), up 1.53% YoY for the whole 2020 and 18.78 trillion won (US$ 16.76 billion) fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2020, which is up 16.9% compared to the same quarter last year. LG K42 with 6.6-inch display, quad rear cameras, military grade durability launched in India for Rs. 10990

LG has launched K42, the company’s latest smartphone in the K series in India after it was introduced back in September last year. It features a 6.6 20:9 HD+ FullVision punch-hole display, features quad-camera array consisting of 13MP rear camera, 5MP Ultra Wide, 2MP Depth camera and a 2MP Macro camera. LG today launched its new 32-inch LG Ultrafine Display Ergo 4K Monitor (32UN880) in India. It enables the user to customize the workstation the way they want by adjusting the pivot, swivel, extend/retract, height and tilt for improved posture and productivity. The monitor features a 31.5-inch (3840 x 2160 pixels) display with HDR10, 95% DCI P3 color accuracy, 5ms response time and  350nits brightness. LG announces native support for Google Stadia game streaming app for webOS smart TVs

LG will soon become the first TV manufacturer outside of Google TV to natively support Google’s Stadia game streaming service on its webOS TV platform. The service will become available to webOS TV users as an app later in the year, with support for 4K resolution and 5.1 channel surround sound.

LG Rollable smartphone teased at CES 2021

At the end of its CES 2021 press conference LG teased its rollable phone with the name “LG Rollable” along with the tagline ‘More to Explore’. This shows a phone with an extendable, pull out design which the company already teased when it introduced WING with a swivel screen in September last year. LG’s webOS software for its Smart TVs is well known for its great intuitive UI, easy navigation and app support. The company has just announced a new version for the software — webOS 6.0 for its 2021 OLED, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell and UHD smart TVs, bringing with it new changes to the UI, a Magic Explorer feature, additional voice commands for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and more.
