Google Gesture Search updated to recognize 40 languages

Google has pushed out an update for its gesture search application for Android. The application that is available on phones and tablets is now compatible with a larger range of languages. Google’s gesture search application provides quick access to oft used applications, contacts, music, settings and bookmarks by allowing users to draw characters on the screen.

The application recognizes 40 languages and can handle transliterations as well and this will be appreciated for those entering characters in China. The application should come in handy to facilitate quick usage on phones. The application received tablet support last year and was initially introduced as a Google Labs project in 2010. Google has updated the official Blogger app to version 2.0.41 that brings support for Android tablets finally. The Blogger Android app was released back in February 2011. The app had seen several changes since the launch, but it took more than 2 years for Google to bring the tablet support. This update also brings improved compose screen with WYSIWYG editor for existing posts that was introduced for the iOS app in version 2.1.7.1. Google releases Cloud Print app for Android

Google Cloud Print for Android

Google has released Cloud Print app for Android. This lets you send a picture or a document from your Android device to a cloud print-connected printer. You can also track the status of your print jobs from the app easily. Google Chrome for iPhone and iPad were updated recently with Cloud Print features. Google Print is already available for Chrome for Android, Google Drive for AndroidGmail Mobile app.

Google acquires Social Navigation app Waze

Google finally announced that they have acquired Waze, the popular crowd-sourced navigation app based in Israel. There were reports that earlier this week about the acquisition for $1.3 billion. These companies did not reveal the price on the deal, but TechCrunch reports that the detal was done for $1.1 billion. Google releases stock Android Keyboard on Google Play

Google has finally released the stock Android 4.2 keyboard on Google Play. This brings Gesture Typing that lets you glide through letters to form a word, automatic error correction, and word predictions. It offers dynamic floating preview that lets you see suggested works while gesturing and floating gesture trail. Other features include, Voice Typing, dictionaries for 26 languages, Advanced keyboard layouts that also suits tablets and more. Gmail v4.5 for Android starts rolling out, brings Slide-out Navigation and new Inbox

Google has started rolling out the Gmail v4.5 update for Android. Google announced a new update for Gmail app for Android, iPhone and iPad last week. The new update brings new Inbox with tabs and categories such as Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums, slide-out navigation and lots more new features. Now there is a separate section for action confirmations in the settings. Now there is a pull to refresh option removing the refresh button and the compose and search buttons have moved to the top. Google’s Sundar Pichai sounds off on the future of Nexus at D11

Google’s Sundar Pichai introduced a Google edition of the HTC One at the ATD D11 conference yesterday which we’d reported on earlier. But the announcement was just the first of many interesting tid bits dropped by the Chief of Android and Chrome during his keynote session. While two top end phones by Samsung and HTC might signal the end of the Nexus device program, Pichai was quick to point out that, “The goal with Nexus was to push forward hardware as well. That will continue.”

HTC One with stock Android launching on June 26th in USA, priced at $599

HTC has finally confirmed the rumors about the HTC One running stock Android. The company just announced on its official blog that a HTC One with Nexus User Experience will be going on sale soon in the US market first. They would continue to sell the developer version and unlocked version directly to users. The HTC One with stock Android will be going on sale on Google’s Play store starting from June 26th but sadly only in the US. The handset has been priced at $599 which is lower than the price of the Galaxy S4 running stock Android which will also be going on sale on the same day for $649. Google has announced an update for the Gmail app for Android, iPhone and iPad that bring new Inbox with tabs and categories. Incoming mails are classified into categories such as Promotions, Social and Updates. You can choose to use categories as inbox tabs, and as labels. This would let you view mails that are important to you and read messages of a similar type. You can use both the Inbox categories and labs separately.

LG unveils the White Nexus 4 officially

LG Electronics (LG) has officially announced the rumored White Nexus 4 in collaboration with Google. The specifications of the device is similar to the original Nexus 4 that was announced back in October last year and officially launched in India recently. It black bezel on the front with white finish on the sides and the back. It has Nexus and LG branding in White, unlike the images that surfaced online. White Nexus 4 and Android 4.3 coming on June 10?


Google didn’t announce any new devices including the most expected White Google Nexus 4. Google would release the White Nexus 4 on along with the Android 4.3 on June 10th, according to a report from a website Android and Me. The White Nexus 4 surfaced earlier this year. This would come with a  black bezel around the display with white finish on the sides and the back, similar to the white Galaxy Nexus. It would have a Nexus and LG branding in black, in contrast to the black version and have patterns on the glass back similar to the black version. Google has updated the Google Search app that brings new Google Now features including Reminders that lets you save things to remember later. You can also pick a time or place to trigger those reminders, so they pop up at just the right time. You can also create some of these reminders with just your voice.  This update also brings new cards that alerts you about upcoming books, music albums, tv shows and video games you may like. LG and Google launch the Nexus 4 in India for Rs. 25999

The Google Nexus 4 went on pre-order from Flipkart yesterday. Now LG and Google have officially launched the Nexus 4 in India. It was announced back in October last year, and it packs a 4.7-inch (1280 x 768 pixels) True HD IPS Plus display, powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Google Play Music access brings streaming, tailored radio and more to Android phones, tablets and web

Google has finally made its rumoured new Music streaming official, and it has called it “Google Play Music all access”. The Spotify like streaming service also has few more tricks up its sleeve, with Pandora like tailored radio with curated content with respect to taste. With this service announcement, Google has seriously stepped up its game in the music services field. Priced at 9.99$ per month, this will be available first in the United States and eventually in other markets. India might get it very very late though, as Google Play Music itself is not available here.
