Google I/O 2016 site is live, registration begins March 8

Google CEO Sundar Pichai had announced in January that the Google I/O 2016 will take place between 18th-20th May at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Now, the I/O 2016 site has gone live and is offering all the necessary information about how to attend the event.

YouTube adds a new custom blurring tool for moving objects in a video

YouTube has added a new tool that will allow creators to blur moving objects in a video without going through the hassle of removing, editing and uploading their videos. The company had first introduced the face blurring tool in 2012 and is now building further on the feature.

Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages for search launched in India

Google has announced that it is launching Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) for search in India. Unveiled in October last year, AMP is an open source HTML initiative which improves the performance of the mobile web and is Google’s answer to Facebook’s Instant Articles.

Google Translate adds 13 new languages, now supports a total of 103 languages

Google has added support for 13 new languages viz Amharic, Corsican, Frisian, Kyrgyz, Hawaiian, Kurdish (Kurmanji), Luxembourgish, Samoan, Scots Gaelic, Shona, Sindhi, Pashto and Xhosa. Launched 10 years ago, Google Translate says that it now covers 99% of the online population.

Gmail rolls out ‘Gmailify’ to help users with non-gmail accounts

Believe it or not, we live in a world where there are people who don’t have a Gmail account and now the service is bringing a new feature to cater to that specific audience. Gmail has announced ‘Gmailify’ feature that will allow non-Gmail users to access Outlook.com, Hotmail, or Yahoo! email accounts through the Gmail app on Android.

Google is shutting down Picasa, asks users to move to Google Photos

After 12 years, Google has decided to shut down its photo sharing service Picasa and focus entirely on Google Photos. The desktop application will not be supported starting from March 15, 2016 and Picasa Web Albums, a companion service will be shut down on May 1, 2016.
