Google invests in INDIGO undersea cable from Australia to Southeast Asia

Google is building a new international subsea cable system in Southeast Asia, called INDIGO. The new cable system will serve Google traffic between Australia and Asia, connecting Perth, Sydney and Singapore, with a branch to Jakarta.

Next Google Home with built-in mesh WiFi router reportedly in the works

Google is working on a new Google Home speaker that will come with a mesh WiFi router that will allow it to boost Wi-Fi signals around the home, according to a latest report from The Information. Mesh Wi-Fi strings a Wi-Fi connection together with the use of multiple routers to create a more consistent coverage area.

Google introduces PAX cross-licensing program of Android patents

Google has announced Pax, a Android Networked Cross-License Agreement with an aim to reduce patent infringement cases and patent threats. Under PAX, members grant each other royalty-free patent licenses covering Android and Google Applications on qualified devices. PAX means peace in latin.

Even though Google recently released Android O Developer Preview, it is still not over offering Android Nougat updates. Google has started rolling out Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) update for several Nexus and Pixel devices, as expected. Android 7.1.2 beta was released back in January, and as Google had announced earlier, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 is not getting this update. The update brings several bug fixes, new features, and general performance/stability improvements. Android Wear 2.0 starts rolling out to three smartwatches

[Update] – Google has confirmed that Android Wear 2.0 rollout is delaying due to a bug. We have started rolling out the Android Wear 2.0 update to Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10 and Tag Heuer Connected. For other devices, the update is currently being delayed due to a bug found in final testing. We will push the update to the remaining devices as soon as the issue is resolved.”
