Gionee, one of the popular global smartphone manufactures has announced that it has expanded its retail footprint in India by partnering with Spice, The Mobile Store, Mobiliti World, Jumbo Electronics, Croma Retail and Planet M. “Gionee handsets will now be available across 1000+ stores and the brand aims to sell 35000+ additional devices every month immediately and scale it up at a constant pace in the coming future”, said the company.
Gionee has announced that it is will start manufacturing smartphone in India. The Chinese smartphone maker will venture into contract manufacturing for locally made devices, as per latest report from Economic Times.

The Chinese invasion of the Indian smartphone market was helmed early on by the likes of Gionee. Somewhere between the price wars and the somewhat lackluster high end products, the brand never managed to gain the favor of high end smartphone buyers. Sure, the company has done exceedingly well in the mid to low end segment with record breaking turnovers that the enigmatic head of Gionee’s Indian business is proud to trumpet but the higher end has remained elusive. Gionee just announced the Marathon M5, the company’s latest smartphone in the M series with a 6020mAh battery using two 3010 battery cells. Gionee promises up to 62 hours of standby even if the phone has only 5% of power left. It has fast dual charging chips and can also be used to charge other devices. It has unibody metal build with a narrow frame and is just 8.5mm thick (4.75mm edge), even though it packs a huge battery. Allview, a Romanian company has unveiled its latest smartphone – X2 Xtreme. The device however is a rebranded Gionee Elife E8 or one can call it a Romanian version of the upcoming smartphone.

Gionee Elife E8 (GN9008), the company’s upcoming E series flagship has been certified in China on TENAA. The company already confirmed that the it will launch the camera-centric Elife E8 later this year during the launch of its Elife S7 smartphone in India in April. Gionee has launched Pioneer P4S, the company’s latest smartphone in the Pioneer series. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It packs a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Even the back is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is 5.5mm thick and has aircraft grade Al-Mg alloy frame.
