Opera 14 for Android is finally out of beta and is available from the Google Play. Opera released the version 14 beta back in March that brought the new WebKit engine replacing Opera’s own Presto engine. The new Opera browser is based on Chromium 26 engine but the  Chromium/Blink-based browser technology is not available yet. Opera says that it would be available in future as they plan to stay closely in sync with the Chromium development cycle with frequent updates. Karbonn A4+ with 4-inch display, dual-core processor now available for Rs. 5299

Karbonn A4+, successor of the Karbonn A4 in the Smart series is now available from online retailer Saholic. It has a 4.0-inch (480 × 800 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It packs a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, but it  lacks a front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support with dual standby and has 2G (EDGE) connectivity. Gionee has launched the Elife E3 in the new Colourful Elife series. It comes with a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor and run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, 720p HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support with dual standby and is just 7.9 mm thick. The in-built Digital Theatre System (DTS) Sound offers enhanced multimedia audio experience and OTA (Over the Air) function allows for software upgrades. Lava has launched the Iris 458q, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in the Iris series. It has a 4.5-inch (854 ×480 pixels) FWVGA capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera. It has a slim form factor with curved corners and has matte finish on the back. It comes with range of pre-loaded applications such as WeChat, Ebook reader  and more with HD movies and HD games.

Later in the day she took the stage to announce a brand new set of changes to make Flickr relevant again. iBall has launched the Slide Q9703, the company’s latest tablet in the Slide Performance series. It has a 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) HD IPS 10 multi-touch retina display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 MP2 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel auto focus camera on the back and a  2-megapixel front facing camera. We reviewed the Zync Quad 9.7 that comes with similar features, but the Zync tablet is cheaper. This also includes 4K video player that lets you play videos at 4K resolution (4,096 × 2,304 pixels) on the tablet.

HTC J One announced for Japan, packs a microSD card slot

HTC has announced the HTC J One (HTL22), a variant of the HTC One for Japan’s KDDI network. The global variant of the HTC One that was announced earlier this year doesn’t come with a microSD card slot but the HTC JOne for Japan has a microSD card slot, in addition to the 32GB internal memory. Other features are similar to the HTC One including a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super LCD3 display at 468ppi,  1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processo, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with the new HTC Sense UI and HTC BlinkFeed, 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera with LED Flash, BSI Sensor, Optical Image Stabilization ,F2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens Full HD (1080p) video recording with HDR Video and a 2.1MP HD front-facing camera with 88 wide angle lens with HDR.

Sony Mobile has announced the Xperia UL (SOL22) for Japan. It has a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13.1-megapixel rear camera with BSI Exmor RS sensor Sensor, LED Flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. The rear camera can capture 15 burst shots per second. It has IPX5/8 and IPX5 ratings for water and dust resistance. Sony announced the Xperia A, a mid-range Android smartphone with a 4.55-inch HD display in Japan recently.
