Google at the I/O 2016 announced that Google Play now has over 1 billion monthly active users and Play users installed apps 65 billion times last year. It also announced improvements to beta tests and app discovery on Google Play and also released two new apps – Playbook and Play Developer console for developers.
David Burke, VP of Engineering, Android announced at the I/O developer conference yesterday that it is garnering suggestions from users before finalizing a name for Android N.
HTC has become the first smartphone OEM to confirm upcoming Android N update for some of their smartphones. During the Google I/O, HTC has tweeted that it will roll out Android N update for HTC 10, One A9 and One M9 smartphones, which will be the first set of devices to get the update. Xiaomi has announced Mi Box, its new 4K box powered by Android TV. Xiaomi is also one of Google’s first Android partners for making Daydream-ready devices, Google VP Clay Bavor announced at the Google I/O conference keynote few hours back. It also comes bundled with Bluetooth voice remote that supports voice search and commands and has optional Mi Game Controller that also connects to other Android devices other than the Mi Box. Google has released developer preview 3 images for Android ‘N’, the next major Android for compatible Nexus devices, a month after the release of developer preview 2. This update brings several new features, including seamless updates that lets Android devices built on N install system updates in the background, similar to Chromebooks.

Panasonic launched the Eluga I2 4G smartphone back in August last year. Today the company has launched upgraded version with 2GB and 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, compared to 1GB of RAM in the original Eluga I2. It also has an improved 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash and 4G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support for Indian specific LTE bands – 3, 5 and 40.
