Think CAT and a massive yellow excavator is probably the first image that comes to your mind. Short for Caterpillar, the company has been making heavy construction equipment for decades now. What’s not quite as well-known is the fact that the company has been in the rugged phone market too for the last few years. While the S60 might be the first smartphone with a built-in thermal camera, it is also the first CAT device to be launched in India. Panasonic introduces Windows 8, Android based Toughpad tablets in India

Panasonic today launched two new tablets amidst a range of products as part of their Toughpad range. The Windows 8 and Android running tablets have been built according to the MIL-STD-810G specification. The rugged shock proof, water proof and dust proof tablets are aimed at use in industries with harsh working environments and can survive falls from up to 4 feet.

Verizon officially launches the Casio G’zOne Commando, a rugged Android phone

We just told you about the Droid Incredible 2, which is finally announced for Verizon Wireless, but it’s not the only phone Verizon is launching on April 28th. Today, Verizon officially announced the Casio G’zOne Commando which is there first ever Android powered rugged device. We first heard about it in March, and now Verizon has officially unveiled it. They are planning to launch it along with the Incredible 2 on 28th April for $199.99 with a new 2-yr customer agreement.
