Firefox marketplace now accessible via Firefox browser for Android

Mozilla’s Firefox browser and OS on Android also includes a separate marketplace app. The application is now accessible to users of the Android Firefox browser. The marketplace includes a number of apps, utilities and games meant for the upcoming mobile operating system by Mozilla. Predictably, the number of applications is very low.

Nightly builds of Firefox Mobile OS now available

Mozilla has started rolling out nightly builds of its upcoming Firefox Mobile OS for users to download. The OS seems to take a lot of inspiration from iOS and Android in terms of UI. In addition, the icons seem to take some hint from Symbian.

Firefox mobile will soon support ARMv6 handsets

Firefox is one of the major desktop browsers and it has been slowly trying to capture the mobile market too as most of the people are now using handheld device, but the main problem is that Firefox for mobile only supports ARMv7 handsets as of now, which means that it cannot be run on more than 50% percent of Android devices available in the market right now. But Mozilla has confirmed that they are working a update which will bring ARMv6 handset support to Firefox mobile.

Firefox for Android v8.0 update brings Better Security and Home Screen Bookmarks

Firefox for Android has been updated to version 8.0 that lets the users to set a master password to encrypt saved usernames and passwords for better security. This also has Home Screen Bookmark feature that lets the users add any bookmarks on their Android Home Screen. The Firefox mobile already has option to sync browser history, bookmarks, passwords and open tabs from any device and also supports add-ons. The previous version was Version 7.0 that was launched in September. Mozilla B2G Announced : Web Centric Mobile OS

Mozilla today announced its plans to develop an open source mobile operating system. The OS will be focused primarily on web-apps. Dubbed B2G , the OS will make use of HTML5 capabilities to deliver basic phone functionality via various APIs.

Fennec Pre-Alpha Version Now Available For Android

The pre-alpha version of Fennac was recently made available for Android devices. Currently it works only on Nexus One and Motorola Droid. Since this is the pre-alpha version, it may have lots of bugs, but it works almost perfectly on these devices.
