Evernote has received an update for its Android app with a bunch of features and user interface revamp. The version 6 of the Evernote App now gets a fresh UI for note creation, editing, viewing, and search.

We’d recently reported on a major update to the popular note taking app on Microsoft’s struggling mobile platform. The update gave Evernote much needed features including a freshened up design and homescreen. Today the company is rolling out a new update that adds some nifty features like pinned tool tiles.

Google’s note taking and list making app, Keep, had shown up previously on Drive but has now been officially announced. The app which works on web and on Android phones running 4.0 and above can best be described as a simplified version of Evernote. The application allows the creation of notes and lists which are saved on Google Drive. You can download the app here.

These are synchronized across all your Android devices. Users also get a home screen and lock screen widget to make taking notes a single tap affair. It is possible to attach images and voice memos to notes. Additionally, the service supports transcription which will let you convert voice memos into text. Google Keep allows you to customize the color of the note and completed items can be archived or deleted. The notes can be accessed on the web via the drive.google.com/keep url.
There is no iOS or Windows Phone application yet. One area where the app falls short is shared note editing or any sort of social features other than sharing via the standard Android share menu. Evernote for Android, that was released in 2009 gets major update from version 2.6.2 to 3.0. Evetnote lets you create notes online and sync it with several devices. This update includes new features like browsing shared notes, assigning locations to a note, premium features like offline access and PIN lock and lots more. Ah! Finally, a proper Evernote client for Symbian has emerged, although it currently supports only S60v5 Devices viz Nokia 5800 XM, Nokia N97, N97 Mini, Nokia X6 etc.

Evernote for iPhone just got a major update in the name of Evernote 3.2. Its been approved by Apple and has made its way to the app store.
Evernote is one amazing cross platform note taking application which just takes the idea of note taking to the next level. We really love using it on our iPhone / iPod and even our Windows and Mac machines
