Google Photos announces end of free unlimited photo backups starting June 2021

For the past 5 years, Google account users have enjoyed the ability to store their photos and videos in high quality for free in Google Photos. That will not be the case anymore soon as Google has announced a change to their policy – photo and video backup will no longer be free starting June 1, 2021, and instead it will be counted against the 15GB quota that comes free with every Google account.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, other OTT platforms now under government regulation

The government of India has issued an order to regulate over-the-top (OTT) media services like Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video etc. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will regulate Films and Audio-Visual programmes made available by online content providers and News and current affairs content on online platforms, according to the order. Samsung launches The Sero 43-inch rotating TV in India for Rs. 1,24,990

Earlier this year during CES 2020, Samsung introduced a rather interesting take on the TV design, showcasing a very unique TV that could rotate to display both horizontally and vertically. Apple introduces M1 5nm Octa-Core SoC for the Mac

Apple just announced M1, the company’s first ARM-based SoC, also known as Apple Silicon designed specifically for the Mac, as expected. The company says that it is the most powerful chip it has ever created. MediaTek Dimensity 700 7nm 5G SoC for smartphones, MT8192 7nm and MT8195 6nm SoCs for Chromebooks announced

MediaTek just announced Dimensity 700, the company’s latest mid-range SoC with built-in 5G months after the Dimensity 720. It has two Cortex-A76 cores operating up to 2.2GHz and six power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores operating at up to 2.0GHz. HUAWEI may sell HONOR smartphone business to Shenzhen govt, others for $15 billion

HUAWEI will sell its HONOR smartphone business to a consortium led by Digital China, a handset distributor and Shenzhen government for about 100 billion yuan ($15.2 billion approx.), according to a new Reuters report. The all-cash sale will include almost all assets including 7,000 staff, R&D capabilities and supply chain management, adds the report.
