Samsung starts mass production of world’s first ePoP memory for smartphones

Samsung today announced that it has started mass producing of world’s first ePoP (embedded package on package) memory. This is a single memory package that includes a 3GB LPDDR3 DRAM, 32GB eMMC (embedded multi-media card) and a controller to be  used in high-end smartphones saving approximately 40 percent of space. Idea Cellular has launched a new Easy Share prepaid plan that comes with internet, Local & National Minutes and SMS benefits. This plan lets users transfer internet packs, minutes and SMS to their friends and families, through a simple process of USSD or from Idea website. It start from Rs. 158 and goes till Rs. 958 depending on the plan. Last year it launched Easy Share postpaid plan in some markets, due to its success this has extended to the large base of prepaid users now, says the company.

ARM today announced Cortex A72 processor in the A70 series based on ARMv8 architecture. It has 64-bit processing technology and is fully compatible with the extensive ARM 32-bit ARMv7 ecosystem, similar to the A50 series. It offers three and a half times the performance of Cortex-A15 based devices and is also highly power efficient, says the company. It powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) SoC that has four ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.19 GHz per core and Adreno 306 GPU clocked at 400 MHz, similar to other A and E series smartphones.  It has a 2GB RAM, 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). LG F60 Dual SIM LTE smartphone now available in India for Rs. 14200

The LG F60 (D392) LTE smartphone was unveiled back in October last year and appeared on the official LG India website later that month for Rs. 15,000 (MRP). Now Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom reports that the smartphone is available from retail stores in India for Rs. 14200. The F60 packs a 4.5-inch WVGA display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). HTC has finally started rolling out Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) update for the HTC One (M8) users in India. It started rolling out to the update for unlocked smartphones in several countries few weeks back. Recently HTC said the One M7 and One M8 will miss its 90 day Android Lollipop promise since their carrier versions of the One (M8) and One (M7) will not meet 90 day goal, which is February 1st. Motorola sold record 10 million smartphones in Q4 2014

Lenovo today reported $14.1 billion revenue for the financial year that ended December 31, 2014. Since Motorola Mobility is now a part of Lenovo, it announced that Motorola sold over 10 million smartphones in the quarter for the first time. This is a 118% increase compared to the same quarter the previous year. Motorola added US$1.9 billion to the total Mobile Business Group’s revenues that includes products from the Motorola investment, Lenovo-branded mobile phone business, Android tablets and TVs, said Lenovo. Meru Cabs has introduced that it has added Google Now integration to its app. Google updated the Google Search app to support Google Now cards from third party apps recently. Meru Cabs becomes the first cab service in India to integrate with the Google app. The Google Now integration will send passengers reminders for cab pickups, alerting them in case they wish to avail of a cab depending on their location, as well as other such information through Now cards within the Google app for Android, says the company. HTC is working on a top-end smartphone in the Desire series codenamed A55, according to @upleaks. According to the website, the smartphone codenamed HTC Hima_Ace is cancelled and is replaced by the A55. It is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 64-bit Octa-Core SoC with built-in 4G LTE and not a Snapdragon SoC seen on latest top-end Desire series smartphones. It is also rumored to feature a 20-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 13-megapixel or a UltraPixel front-facing camera.
