LG Electronics has reported revenues of 14 trillion won (US$ 12.05 billion) in Q2 that ended June 30, 2016, which is up 0.6% compared to the same quarter last year with operating profit of 584.6 billion won (US$ 503.10 million), up 140% from the same period the previous year, mainly due to strong growth in Home Appliance & Air Solution and Home Entertainment sectors. Samsung has reported its earnings for Q2 2016, in which the company has made operating profit of 8.14 trillion won ($7.22 billion) for the quarter that ended June 30, 2016, which is up 16% YoY. It reported revenues of 50.94 trillion won ($45.2 billion), up 5% year-on-year and net profit of 5.85 trillion won (US$ 5.17 billion), compared with 5.75 trillion won a year earlier. Lenovo’s ZUK has announced ZUK Z2 Rio Edition in China, just in time for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It has similar specifications as the standard Z2 smartphone that was unveiled in May that includes a 5-inch 1080p LTPS 2.5D curved glass display, quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with ZUI 2.0 on top, 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera, but this has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage compared to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage in the original Z2. Xiaomi has announced Mi Notebook Air, the company’s first Windows 10 laptop, along with the Redmi Pro at an event in China. It comes in 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch models with 1080p displays with 5.71mm and 5.59mm ultra-narrow borders, respectively. It has a full metal body with 135-degree opening and closing hinge. The 12.5-inch model is just 12.9mm thick and weighs 1.07kg and the 13.3-inch model is 14.8mm thick, compared to 17mm thick MacBook Air and weighs just 1.28kg.

Xiaomi just announced Redmi Pro, the company’s latest smartphone in the Redmi series at an event in China. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p OLED 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 / X25 SoC and runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has dual rear cameras, a 13-megapixel camera along with a 5-megapixel camera for achieving depth of field and real-time background blur. Apple has reported revenue of $42.4 billion with a net profit of $7.8 billion in their earnings for the financial year Q3 2016 that ended June 25, 2016. Revenues were down 14.5% year-on-year and earnings per share were $1.42. It sold 40.4 million iPhones, 9.95 million iPads, and 4.25 million Macs during its fiscal third quarter of 2016.
