Indian smartphone shipments up 14.5% YoY in 2018; Xiaomi continues to lead with 28.9% share: IDC

As per IDC’s Quarterly mobile phone tracker, the Indian smartphone market has shipped 142.3 million units in 2018, registering a healthy 14.5% year-on-year (YoY) growth as compared to 2017. Though the Q3 2018 has been the strongest quarter, the market saw a sequential decline of 15.1% in Q4 2018 owing to high channel inventory. Xiaomi patent hints at smartphone with edge-to-edge display, dual rear cameras

Xiaomi’s new design patent was published in the Global Design Database of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) on February 5th. The patent hints at a full-screen smartphone with a dual camera on the back. Furthermore, the display features a rounded off corners on all four sides.

Sprint files lawsuit against AT&T over its ‘5G E’ branding

German Watchdog blocks Facebook from merging user data without consent

Germany’s competition watchdog; the Bundeskartellamt has imposed “far-reaching” restrictions on Facebook’s data collection and sharing. Facebook unsurprisingly plans to appeal. The watchdog said that Facebook should not combine or collect user data third-party websites and assign them to user accounts without users’ consent.
