Huawei unveiled the Ascend Mate 2 at the CES 2014 earlier this year. We brought you the hands-on impressions of the smartphone from the event. This is the successor of the Ascend Mate that was launched last year, and looks similar to its predecessor in terms of design, but the internals have been upgraded. The Project Shield was Nvidia’s first portable gaming project, which turned out to be really interesting in terms of idea and concept, never took off as the company had imagined. The GPU manufacturer is back with a sequel, but with a different approach this time. The Shield 2, or rather, the Nvidia Shield Tablet, is the company’s latest unbundled approach to portable gaming. Acknowledging the reality of limited controller support in Android games and the need to cater to a wider audience, the company has gone for a powerful tablet + gamepad combo. The gamepad ships separately, but even standalone, the tablet is plenty powerful and can interface with your current controller setup if needed. Samsung Gear Live is the company’s first Android Wear smartwatch that has almost similar specifications as its Gear 2 smartwatch that runs on Tizen OS. The Gear Live was announced at the Google I/O in June and it was immediately listed on the Indian Play Store. It went on sale in India last month for Rs. 15,900, but it is currently out of stock. Obi Mobiles, based in Gurgaon announced the launch of India operations back in April. The company is promoted by Inflexionpoint, popular IT supply chain company co-founded by John Sculley, Ex CEO of Apple. The Obi Octopus S520 that was launched earlier this month is the company’s first smartphone. Celkon launched the Millennium Vogue Q455, a budget smartphone running Android 4.4 (KitKat) few days back, a week after launching the Millennium Elite Q470 and the Millennium Power Q3000 in the Millennium series. It has a 4.5-inch qHD OGS screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with VideoCore IV GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). OnePlus, a technology startup announced the OnePlus One, the company’s first smartphone after a lot of hype. We managed to get an invite to buy the phone. The phone packs top-end specifications and premium build, but comes at a competitive price of just $299 for the 16GB variant and $349 for the 64GB variant. The company calls it as “2014 flagship killer”. We have the 64GB variant in Sandstone Blackcolor. It runs on CyanogenMod 11S based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Asus launched the Zenfone series in India that includes the Zenfone 4 that starts at Rs. 5,999 for the Asus Zenfone 4 (A400CG) variant.
