Coming from an Economic Times article, it looks like Reliance Industries limited (RIL) is all set to get approval from the telecom department (DoT) for testing voice services on its yet-to-be-launched 4G networks. The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the 2G auctions in various circles that ended after 14 rounds. Earlier this year, Supreme Court of India cancelled 122 2G licenses issued by the Government on after 10th Jan 2008. At the end of the 2G auction government got bids worth Rs. 9,407.64 crore, much lower than their target revenue of Rs. 40,000 crore. AU Optronics announces a 4.46 inch 720p display with practically no border

Earlier this fall, Motorola announced two very interesting smartphones called the RAZR M and the RAZR i. From the outside they look exactly the same, but on the inside the M model sports a dual core Qualcomm chip, whereas the i model uses an Intel Atom. Silicon aside, what makes these phones so intriguing is their displays. At 4.3 inches and a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, they’re not the most advanced panels on the planet, but they have almost no border. What advantages does that bring? The RAZR M, despite having a 4.3 inch display, is practically the same size as Apple’s new 4 inch iPhone 5. At the Innovation Qualcomm India 2012 Qualcomm demoed Snapdragon S4-powered devices such as Smartphones and Tablets. These features range from Audio, Camera, WiFi displays and more. They also demoed AllJoyn technology that enables ad hoc, proximity-based device-to-device communication for local Multi-player gaming and apps.

Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Pune

Airtel has launched their 4G LTE services in Pune, followed by Kolkata and Bengaluru. Airtel has also reduced the price of the LTE CPE and dongles, the Indoor CPE with Wi-Fi and the 4G Multi Mode Dongle, that are now available for Rs. 4999 each. Airtel has also announced the availability and free trial offer of Airtel Broadband TV and Games On-Demand for their 4G LTE customers. They have introduced cash back offers for post-paid customers. This would let the customers stay in touch with their work and friends on their mobile phone or laptops while travelling. 4G LTE Speed Test on EE featuring the Galaxy S3 LTE and Ascend P1 LTE
Today’s announcement by EE on the arrival of 4G LTE in the UK heralds a new era in this Britain’s telecommunication industry. It’s been a long time waiting, and judging by the initial hands on demonstration, it seems that it will be worth the wait.
Huawei’s Ascend P1 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 were two of the few handsets on display at the EE press conference today. Initial speed test shows that the devices were capable of achieving and maintaining 25+Mbps download and 12+Mbps upload speed, a fair upgrade over T-Mobile’s current 3G network.
No price plans has been announced yet. The rollout of EE’s 4G LTE network will begin this year and they aim to cover 1/3rd of the population by the end of the year.

Everything Everywhere launches a new company brand, LTE in Britain
Everything Everywhere, the UK telecommunication company that was formed following the merger of T-Mobile and Orange UK, today announced a new company brand and details of their LTE network, the first in Britain. The company will from today be called EE, though the T-Mobile and Orange brands will continue to co-exist. EE is positioning the new brand as one focused on delivering super fast broadband via fiber and 4G LTE service.
EE’s 4G network will be switched on for trials today in London, with more cities joining at a later date. In addition to London, EE aims to launch LTE Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle, Southampton, Hull, Nottingham and Derby by Christmas of this year. They aim to provide a coverage for 20 million people, a third of the population of Britain, by the end of the year.
EE has insisted that the new brand will allow them to tap other markets, including fibre and broadband as well as other new categories. While the 700 T-Mobile, Orange and Everything Everywhere stores will be rebranded to EE, there will be three distinct brands for consumers, with EE focused primarily on the top-end of the spectrum. Phones confirmed to be launching on the network includes the Samsung Galaxy S III LTE, HTC One XL, Huawei Ascend P1 LTE, Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920.

Winknet MF50 3G Pocket Wi-Fi Router Review

Winknet launched the MF50 3G Pocket Wi-Fi Router, earlier this month in India. It is manufactured by ZTE and has HSPA support up to 14.4 Mbps download and 5.76 Mbps upload speeds. It has a LCD display, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n & WPS support that lets you connect up to 10 WiFi-enabled devices and comes with a 1500 mAh battery. Since it was originally launched in July for BSNL with bundled plans, the box has BSNL branding. Tata Docomo launched 3G Wi-Fi Hub last year at a similar price, but it offers download speeds only up to 7.2 Mbps and lets you share the connection only with 5 WiFi-enabled devices.
