Foursquare for iPhone has been updated to version 5.3.5 that brings faster check-ins, new check-in screen with map of the location with photo attachment at the top and the check-in button at the bottom. This update also has check-in highlights under the friends’ check-ins and notifications of newly updated places. The previous v5.3.3 update for iPhone brought ratings for places. Zite for iPhone and iPad v2.0 update brings New Explore page, Facebook integration and more

Zite Personalized Magazine for iPhone and iPad has been update to version 2.0 that add lot of new features including new explore page that has a catalog of over 40,000 topics from 2,500, Facebook integration to get topic suggestions based on your Facebook history, and more. Zite for Android was released earlier this March. Zite has promised an update for the Android and Windows Phone apps in 2013. Facebook Messenger for Android updated, lets you Sign Up using your mobile number

Facebook has updated their Messenger app for Android to version 2.2.1. Even though this is a minor update to fix some bugs, this update adds new feature that enables new users to sign up using their name and phone number. Facebook launched the Messenger app for Android and iPhone last year, that lets you send messages to your Facebook friends or friends in your phone contacts. Gmail for iPhone and iPad v2.0 update brings redesigned UI, Multiple account support and more

Google has updated the Gmail app for iPhone and iPad to version 2.0. The new Gmail v2.0 for iOS brings redesigned UI, Multiple account support, search predictions and more new features. Google released the Gmail app for iPhone and iPad last November. Google acquired  Sparrow, a popular email app for Mac and iOS earlier this year, but the new Gmail app lacks several features that sparrow had such as universal inbox and gestures. In this puzzle adventure game, players will take the Pudding Monsters on an adventure into the city, swiping to stick the Monsters together as they become the Ultimate Mega Monster to save their friend from being kidnapped by the cold-hearted fridge owner. Gmail v4.2.1 update for Android 4.0 and 4.1 brings pinch-to-zoom, Swipe to delete and more features

Google has updated Gmail for Android to version 4.2.1 that brings pinch-to-zoom feature for emails and a swipe to archive or delete to quickly delete or archive a mail from you inbox or sent for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) devices . You can also attach photos and videos within Gmail and view larger photo previews in attachments. The update leaked few months back and it was available in the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) on Google Nexus devices. Rumour : Facebook Looking to Buy Whatsapp

Reports indicate that Facebook might be in talks to buy Whatsapp in order to enhance its mobile credentials. Facebook’s main source of mobile income is from ads and it reported recently that 14% of it’s advertising revenue in Q3 2012 came from its mobile division.

Facebook Photo Sync feature starts rolling out for Android, iPhone and iPad apps

 

 

Facebook started testing Photo Sync feature for their Android, iPhone and iPad apps back in August. Now they have started rolling out the feature to everyone. There is no app update for this feature, you just get a notification when you open the Facebook app to enable Photo Sync feature. This automatically uploads entire photos in your phone as you capture. You can also sync your entire phone photos, and you get 2GB of storage for it. The auto photo upload feature is already available on Google+ as instant upload and in Dropbox as Camera Upload. Nokia launches PhotoBeamer image sharing app for Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices

Nokia has launched PhotoBeamer app exclusively for Lumia phones (Lumia 820 and Lumia 920) running on Windows Phone 8. This app lets you to share images from the phone easily just by pointing the device on the QR code on photobeamer.com. This uses Scalado’s technology that was first released on PhotoBeamer iPhone back in May. After Nokia acquired Scalado, the team has worked hard to bring the app to Windows Phone 8 devices. Flipkart launches Flyte eBooks for Android

Flipkart has launched Flyte eBooks for Android. The company launched Flyte MP3 downloads earlier this year along with a Flyte MP3 Android app. The new Flyte eBooks for Android that lets you download eBook on your Android device from a collection of over 60,000 paid books and about 4000 free eBooks. You can sign in to your Flipkart account, add money to your wallet and start buying the book from the app or purchase it online. Unlike the Amazon’s Kindle format (.azw or .mobi), this uses Flipkart’s propitiatory format (.fkb). You can download each Flipkart eBook to a maximum of six devices, similar to Amazon Kindle books. Adblock Plus for Android released, Blocks ads in Mobile Browsers and Apps

Adblock Plus, popular ad-block extension / add-on on Firefox and Chrome is now available for Android. It blocks ads on most Apps and Browser over Wi-Fi even if you are not rooted. You need a rooted Android phone for ad blocking over 2G / 3G. It does not allow ads to be blocked on SSL encrypted websites. According to the Adblock site, the Android app only blocks ads Firefox and Opera browsers, but we tried it on the default Android browser and Chrome, and it worked fine.
