UCWeb, popular for its mobile internet software and services has announced that the UC Browser has crossed 500 million users globally. Over 300 million UC Browser users are from Android, compared to 100 million in December 2012. It is among leading mobile browsers in India with market share of 32%, reveals StatsCounter data. 500 million user count is based on quarterly active users till March 2014, says UCWeb. This lets loads a webpage in the background when you click a link in your current app, so that you can read them once the page is completely loaded. It notifies you when the page is loaded, shows the amount time saved per link and makes sharing links, pushing links to apps like Pocket easy. Motorola has updatedits apps for Moto X, Moto G and Droid phones with new features. The new update for the camera app (v3.2) lets users with Moto X, Moto G, or Droid Ultra capture images using volume keys, instead of touching the screen. Motorola has offered 48 updates since the Moto X launch in August, says the company. It just feels like yesterday, when almost all of us were in denial that a Nokia Android phone could exist, but Nokia has put forward its boldest bet ever, especially at a time when it has been acquired by Microsoft, a company that has been at odds with Google since forever. Anyways, the device was revealed to much excitement and curiosity at the Mobile World Congress event, and eventually arrived in India just few weeks later. We had unboxed the device and also showed you how to root it and get Google Play services and apps on it, but as you might have guessed by now, we were curious to find out more about the device over the course of our usage. Google has added new voice commands to Google Search for Android that lets you launch the camera app to take a photo or record a video by speaking respective commands. Google Search already has an option to open apps just by saying “Open Instagram” or “Open Facebook”. With the new “take a photo” or “take a video” commands, Google Search will launch the camera app in the preferred mode. Sony starts rolling out Android 4.4 update for Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact

Sony has started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and the Z1 compact. It started rolling out the Android 4.3 update for the Z Ultra and the Z1 back in December last year, and the Z1 Compact was launched running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). The Sony Xperia Z2 that was unveiled last month runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box. The KitKat update brings performance tweaks, lot of under the hood improvements, new skin and new features. Microsoft made OneNote for Windows free and launched its first Mac client recently. It also introduced Office Lens for Windows Phone that scans your documents and save it as editable format in OneNote. This uses OneNote’s cloud-based optical character-recognition (OCR) software and the new OneNote Service API to make it a editable text. It also trims, enhances and makes pictures readable. OneNote for Windows goes free, Mac client and new APIs introduced

one-note-everywhere-free-macOneNote, the note taking application that lives inside the office suite has now been unbundled on Windows and made free for the desktop, like it has been on other platforms and even the Windows Store. Talking of platforms, Microsoft has also just introduced OneNote for Mac, which has been a long standing request from Office for Mac users. The client will work just like the Windows client, with access to the OneDrive cloud, the familiar arrangement of notebooks and all the tools OneNote is known for. Apart from this, Microsoft has also opened up new APIs for OneNote, with which one can develop apps supporting the service and the cloud.

Facebook Messenger for iPhone got free voice calling feature in the US and Canada back in February 2013. It rolled out for Android users in Canada in March, it rolled out in the US and in 24 countries in April last year. You can make calls only to Facebook Messenger users on iPhone and Android over 3G or WiFi. It is not available for Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone that was launch recently. This is how Whatsapp Calls will supposedly look like

At the MWC 2014 earlier this year, Whatsapp were present and their CEO was just fresh from the 19 billion USD deal with Facebook. At the event, Whatsapp discussed their post Facebook acquisition plans and they also mentioned that they will be introducing VoIP calls in Q2 2014. According to an Italian blog, they were able to get their hands on the latest Whatsapp app with support for voice calls.

Nokia Refocus app updated to support all Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones

Nokia has updated its Nokia Refocus app, that now brings support to all Nokia Lumia smartphones running on Windows Phone 8. The app was demoed back at the Nokia event in Abu Dhabi, back in October, and the app was launched in the Windows Phone Store in November. It was launched for PureView smartphones, the Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and the Lumia 1020 running the Windows Phone 8 Amber update. Rdio acquires Dhingana, to launch in India later this year

Rdio, popular digital music service has announced they would to acquire Dhingana, one of India’s popular online music streaming service, that stopped the service recently. Dhingana’s team in India would be joining Rdio to extend their musical catalog, that has over 1 million songs in 42 languages and Indian genres. Dhingana founders Snehal Shinde and Swapnil Shinde will join the executive team at Rdio, to expand the service to India as well as other emerging markets.
