Xiaomi launched the Mi A1 Android One smartphone in India back in September running stock Android 7.1 (Nougat) in partnership with Google. At the launch it promised Android 8.0 (Oreo) update for the phone by 2017 and also said that it will also be one of the first phones to get Android P. Last week it started recruitment for Android Oreo beta testers for the phone through Mi Community India as well as MIUI Global Forum and earlier today it selected some active users eligible for the update.
