Apple is continuously working hard to improve its already intuitive iOS and have just started seeding iOS 7.1 beta 2 to developers.
Instagram, the popular photo sharing network known for its huge user base and getting acquired by Facebook, today released a new feature called Instagram Direct. The uber popular app has finally received private messaging with the ability to send photos, videos and even text to an instagram user or just your own list of people. This is a bid to take on popular messaging apps like Whatsapp and Snapchat which have offered users with sharing personal pictures, with the latter even offering timed photos. With reports of failed acquisition attempts of Snapchat by Facebook, we had initially thought if this involved the parent company, but doesn’t look like it. True to their initial promise, Instagram is still independent, but has only gained a business model in ads. The update enabling Instagram Direct is immediately available for Android and iOS while the official blog reminds us that the Windows Phone client is still a beta.

Spotify has made its music streaming app free on Android, iPhone and iPad, that doesn’t require a premium subscription. Its new free offering lets you play any artist, album, or playlist in shuffle mode. Spotify is also expanding its reach to 20 new markets today, sadly India is not in the list. Rockstar Games had previously announced that they will be bringing GTA San Andreas to Windows Phone, Android and iOS sometime in December. Keeping their word, they have launched GTA San Andreas today in Apple’s App Store. The game is currently available only in NZ. The global rollout is expected soon.

In this game you play Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain, a pirate eager to take on the fiercest of enemies. Futuremark has updated the 3DMark app for iOS to version 1.2.0 that brings a new 64-bit version to test the new iOS devices with a 64-bit processor including the iPhone 5s, iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display. Scores from those devices will improve slightly with this update, says the company. Recently Futuremark started delisting Android devices with suspicious scores from the 3DMark charts. The company still continues to delist devices from the chart, which now applies to iOS devices as well, after the new update. The v2.11.5 update also brings a new app icon, Broadcast lists that lets you share messages with multiple contacts at once, Large thumbnails for images, New notification alerts, better UI to manage blocked contacts, option to crop an image before sending and lots more.
