CyanogenMod announced CM14.1 based on Android 7.1 Nougat last month. It released CM14.1 nightly builds for Moto G 1st and 2nd gen devices, Xiaomi Mi 4, OnePlus 3 and more in the first wave, later it released the update for Moto G (3rd Gen) and more devices, now it has released the update for  Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon 650), Mi Max, Moto X 2014, few OPPO phones and more. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 MIUI 8.1.1.0 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update starts rolling out in India

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 3 (Pro) with Snapdragon 650 in India running MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) back in March earlier this year starting at Rs. 9999. Later it got the MIUI 8 update, but the Android version was the same, now the company has finally started rolling out Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for the smartphone along with the MIUI 8.1.1.0.MHOMIDI OTA update as nightly build, which Xiaomi calls Beta Stable release before the final update.

Micromax has launched Vdeo 1 and Vdeo 2, two new budget smartphones with 4G VoLTE support. Both these also come pre-loaded with Google Duo video calling app out of the box and also come bundled with Jio SIM card. These have a metal back cover and run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The Vdeo 1 and Vdeo 2 feature 4-inch & 4.5-inch WVGA & FWVGA display, respectively, are powered by 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor, 1GB RAM, sport a 5MP rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. ZUK Z2 and Z2 Pro to get ZUI 2.5 Android Nougat update by Jan 2017, Z1 to get closed beta soon

Lenovo’s ZUK at an event in China announced a 600 yuan price cut for the Z2 Pro exclusive version with 6GB RAM and 128GB Storage that was introduced earlier this year. The ZUK Z2 Pro that was introduced for 2699 yuan will now be available for 2099 yuan (US$ 304 / Rs. 20,690 approx.). The ZUK Z2 that was introduced for 1799 yuan has received a 400 yuan price cut and will be available for 1399 yuan (US$ 200 / Rs. 13,790 approx.). Google Pixel and Pixel XL get VoLTE support for Reliance Jio with Android 7.1.1 update

Google today started rolling out Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) update for the Pixel, Pixel XL and compatible Nexus devices starting from today. The Pixel devices that were launched in India came with Android 7.1 (Nougat) but did not have option to enable VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) support. The latest Android 7.1.1 finally brings support for VoLTE for Reliance Jio in India and other operators worldwide that support VoLTE. Android Nougat adoption crawls at just 0.4% after 3 months

Google is out with the numbers for Android distribution for the month of December, last time in 2016. The latest figures suggest that adoption of Google’s latest OS, Android 7.0 Nougat is moving at a glacial pace. Nougat is currently present only on 0.4% of all the Android devices, up from 0.3% in last month.

Google has started rolling out Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) update for several Nexus devices and Pixel devices, as expected. The update brings new emoji that reflect the pivotal roles women play in the world, female welders and men getting haircuts for Nexus devices, option to send GIFs directly from your keyboard on supported apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts. It also brings app shortcuts that can be launched directly from home screen. This is available in Twitter, Google Messenger, Google Maps and other apps that can be accessed by simply long pressing the app icon. BlackBerry DTEK50 Review

BlackBerry launched DTEK50 in India last month for Rs. 21990. It is the second Android smartphone from the company after the Priv. BlackBerry recently announced that it will stop in-house smartphone development and will outsource it to partners. The DTEK50 is also not made by BlackBerry. It is a rebranded Alcatel Idol 4 that was introduced at the MWC earlier this year. Along with almost stock Android experience, BlackBerry had added a lot of security features. Motorola will not release a new smartwatch, Moto 360 successor doubtful

Huawei introduced the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro flagship smartphones last month running Android 7.0 (Nougat) with Emotion UI 5.0. Recently the company confirmed the list of devices that will get Android Nougat update. Huawei plans to roll out Nougat update staring from Q1 2017 for its smartphones. Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 smartphones will get the update first and few other devices will get it few weeks after that.
