Bharti Airtel has launched 4G on mobile starting from Bengaluru. Airtel announced their plans to roll out 4G LTE service on smartphones for customers in the city back in December. It also rolled out carrier settings update on the iPhone 5s and 5c that enables the 2300 MHz LTE (Band 40) on the smartphones. Few weeks back it conducted a soft launch, today it launched the service officially. Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone win spectrum as auction raises Rs. 61,162 crore for Govt

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the spectrum auctions in various circles that ended after 68 rounds. At the end of the 2G auction government got bids worth Rs. 61,162 crore, much higher than their target revenue of Rs. 41,000 crore. It had put 385 MHz of radio waves in the 1800 MHz band in 22 circles and 46 MHz in the 900 MHz band in 3 circles. Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) won 1800 MHz spectrum in 14 circles across India, out of 22 circles. BSNL launches free incoming national roaming packs starting from Rajasthan

After MTNL, the State Owned Telecom Operator, BSNL has started rolling out free roaming plans starting from Rajasthan. Unlike MTNL, this service is not free on BSNL. Prepaid customers have to purchase special tariff vouchers (STVs) to avail free incoming calls while roaming across the country. Tata Group reportedly planning to exit telecom business

A year after taking over as chairman of the Tata group, Cyrus Mistry, has decided to exit the telecom business completely, according to a recent report from Economic Times. Tata Group, which includes Tata Communications and Tata Tele has initiated talks with Vodafone to sell the company, but the discussions are at an early stage. MTNL makes incoming calls free while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi

As expected, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched free incoming calls for their customers in Delhi and Mumbai. This would let them attend calls from any network for free of cost, without any packs while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi. BSNL and MTNL reportedly launching free roaming plans starting January 26th

BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator and MTNL would launch new free roaming plans starting from January 26th, according to a recent report from TOI. Videocon Mobile Services was the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. It also launched new packs later that offer free incoming calls while roaming on other networks. Other operators joined in with cheaper roaming plans starting with free incoming calls while roaming. Aircel has launched Aircel ISD 54444, new pre-activated ISD tariff plan that would offer international calls to USA, Canada, Singapore, China, UK at 1p/sec with no additional charges. This is available for both existing as well as new Aircel customers, but it will not be applicable while on roaming. BSNL Champion SM3512 and SM3513 Android smartphones launched for Rs. 3225 and Rs. 4499

BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator has partnered with Champion to launch BSNL Champion My Phone SM3512 and SM3513. These phones hava a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen display, powered by a dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). These have a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. These phones also have Dual SIM support and the SM3513 has 3G support. Vodafone and ICICI Bank launch M-Pesa mobile money transfer service in Haryana

Vodafone India  partnered with ICICI Bank to launch M-Pesa, mobile money transfer and payment service back in April 2013. It was introduced in Delhi and NCR in August 2013. Now Vodafone India has launched the service in Haryana region. It offers a simple and secure way to transfer money and make payments with the security of financial transactions provided by ICICI Bank. This service offers unbanked and under serviced sections of the country to gain access to financial services via the mobile phone. Micromax partnered with Aircel last year for bundled offers on smartphones and 3G Dongles. It partnered with MTS to launch Canvas Blaze MT500 smartphone. Now, the company has partnered with Tata Docomo to launch voice and data offers. This lets Tata Docomo customers enjoy voice and data at cheaper rates on Micromax handsets purchased after 1st October 2013 till 30th June 2014.

Last year at CES 2013, Sony had announced their twin flagships – Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, and hence we expected there was some speculation that Sony will be unveiling something in the smartphone category at CES 2014. We were right, they did announce a smartphone with top of the line specifications, but it isn’t exactly the company’s flagship. Motorola Moto G retailer pack leaked, coming to Verizon for just $100 off contract

Google announced Motorola’s next budget smartphone device – Motorola Moto G sometime back and it is scheduled to arrive in India during January 2014. Moto G is budget minded mid-range smartphone that makes little compromise on the specifications as it sports a 4.5inch 720p display, has a quad-core processor and is fueled by a 2070mAh battery and India is likely to receive a dual-SIM variant.
