Recently I was invited to Reliance Jio headquarters in Mumbai.I have been following the technology scene in India for the past 12 years and I genuinely got excited when I started to hear about the plans Reliance Jio has for the India market. It is not only about the High Speed 4G network being deployed but also the fact that 4G smartphones have become so affordable unlike few years back when 4G was restricted to expensive smartphones. When Reliance announced the Jio Preview offer earlier this year in May along with the purchase of a Lyf device, I decided to buy one without any hesitation. TRAI recommends Rs. 3050 crore penalty on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea for denial of interconnection to Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio had filed several complaints with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) against incumbent operators who failed to provide sufficient POIs to Jio. Yesterday TRAI in separate letters to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) secretary, has recommended a total penalty of Rs. 3050 core on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular in circles where the point of interconnect (PoI) congestion exceeded the permissible limit of 0.5%. Reliance Jio 4G speed slowest shows TRAI data, Jio says tests performed after FUP

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently launched MySpeed app to measure and upload internet speeds. It also launched Analytics Portal to show users in detail about network coverage, data speed in their area and Quality of Service (QoS) of their telecom operators. The data on the portal shows that Reliance Jio’s 4G data speed is the slowest among top operators in the country. Reliance Jio signs record 16 million new subscribers in 26 days of launch

Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) had launched 4G services for its employees in December last year and it officially launched for all on September 5th. Today the company has announced that it has signed record 16 million new subscribers in 26 days of its commercial operations. “Jio has achieved this growth faster than any other telecom operator or start up in the world including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype,” said the company. Reliance Jio: Over 4 crore calls to Idea failing every day, proposed augmentation by Idea inadequate

Idea Cellular on Friday said that it will be providing over 230% additional capacity to Reliance Jio, saying that Quality of Service for its customers is top priority. Reliance Jio later said that it has been intimated by Idea Cellular regarding Idea’s decision to provide additional POIs in the next few days. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries at the company’s AGM launched Jio services earlier today, which will be available for all starting from September 5. Here is a look at its plans in detail. All the plans come with free unlimited local and STD voice calls to any network, including roaming across India so you just pay for the data. “Jio will put an end to voice call charges in India. No Jio customer will ever have to pay for voice calls again,” said Mukesh Ambani.
