It has 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD IPS display, powered by a 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android OS. It comes with 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, full HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. ZTE to unveil Grand S II, BlueWatch Smartwatch and a Phablet with 5.7-inch HD display at CES 2014


ZTE has announced that it would unveil the Grand S II, the successor of Grand S that was unveiled at the CES 2013 last year. It would also launch BlueWatch, its first Smartwatch and its first phablet with a 5.7-inch HD display and dual screen functionality. It would also show off a mobile hotspot with a built-in projector and more at the event. ZTE nubia Z5S and nubia Z5S mini launched in China

ZTE has launched two new Android smartphones, nubia Z5S and nubia Z5S mini and their LTE variants as we reported last week. The nubia Z5S has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) IPS display at 440 ppi with 2.67mm thin bezel, powered by a 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The nubia Z5S mini has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels)  IGZO display, powered by a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Both these smartphones have a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, full HD video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Yet another Smartphone OS in an already crowded market? Is there a breathing gap for platforms with differentiated offerings? So many questions needed answering when the Firefox OS was announced. And now it is here, residing within a handful of devices. Firefox OS might be the litmus test for a new OS’ sustainability in a fiercely competitive market. And for sustainability, any OS needs hardware, and tailored ones are the demand of the day. So Firefox announced their partnerships with several manufacturers for manufacturing low cost devices to push their platform forward to the ideal first smartphone user segment. ZTE is one of them, and one of their first devices featuring the Firefox OS is the ZTE Open.

The name Open signifies Firefox’s mobile vision in a word. The platform is based on web technologies, and much like Firefox, the browser, most apps it has run on HTML5 or Javascript. Previously we had seen phones or apps based on web technologies didn’t perform that well, and that was exactly the case with FFOS too, when we had last seen the ZTE Open at the MWC event. ZTE nubia 5 went on sale in the U.S. last month, now the press invite for the nubia 5S has arrived. The nubia 5S  is set to launch on November 19th in Beijing Prosper Center. According to earlier leaks, the Nubia 5S is rumored to feature a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). ZTE introduced the Grand S Flex few months back for the Chinese market, now the company has launched the phone in the European markets, including Germany, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Spain. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8930 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).  It has 8-megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. ZTE has announced three new devices, Blade Q Mini, Blade Q and Blade Q Maxi in the Blade series for European market. The Blade Q Mini has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, Blade Q has a 4.5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and the Blade Q Maxi has a 5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) capacitive touch screen display. All these phones are powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor with Mali 400 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). These smartphones pack, 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and comes with 21 MB/s 3G HSPA+ connectivity. ZTE becomes India’s leading Data Card vendor with 30.2% marketshare in Q2, 2013

ZTE, the Chinese company known for its communication infrastructure solutions and even smartphone products, is now the leading Data Card vendor in India, with a user base of 63.04% of the total Data Card users. The CyberMedia Research team had released these statistics for the Indian market in their website sometime back, where they actually noted a decline in the Data Card market from the previous year but compared to the last quarter, Q2 has seen a 66.7% growth and about 30.2% of all the new shipments are ZTE cards, according to the data.

ZTE Open Firefox OS device to be sold on eBay for $80

ZTE Open, the first commercial Firefox OS device went on sale in Spain last month. Now ZTE has officially announced that it would go on sale in the US and UK soon through eBay. The Firefox developer devices Keon and Peak manufactured by Spanish company GeeksPhone went on sale in April. The ZTE Open was unveiled at the MWC earlier this year. It has a 3.5-inch (480×320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz MSM7225A Snapdragon S1 processor and runs on Firefox OS. ZTE ships 11.5 million smartphones in Q2 2013, at 5% of the total smartphone marketshare

Amongst a number of highly competitive Chinese smartphone makers is ZTE. This company was recently revealed as one of the Top 5 Smartphone makers in the world, by IDC, pegging it at the fifth position. However, contrary to IDC’s claims, ZTE has posted its Q2 results with a total of 11.5 million(up from 10.1 in the report) shipments, pegging the company at an even more impressive fourth position. With this number, the company now owns a healthy 5% of the total smartphone marketshare. Several Android OEMs are finally starting to make substantial inroads into the market, is the Apple-Samsung duopoly fading fast?

ZTE Grand X Quad Lite with 5 inch qHD display launched in India for Rs. 14,999

Apart from five low to mid range smartphones that ZTE launched today, in India, the Chinese manufacturer has also revealed its flagship device. The flagship device, although falling in the similar mid range price bracket, has matching specs with the current crop of 5 inch devices that are doing the rounds in the market. Equipped with a 5 inch qHD screen and a quad core processor, ZTE hopes to peg this as the phone to get from its portfolio for the Indian consumers. That said, ZTE seems to really acknowledge the fact that in India, the volume is in mid range. Let us take a look at the specifications of the device then.

ZTE launches a range of low to mid end smartphones in India

ZTE has announced its arrival to the Indian market at an event in Mumbai today with an onslaught of a total of six devices and four 3G data cards. With these new devices, the Chinese mobile giant aims to capture some marketshare and mind share in the world’s second fastest growing smartphone market. While data has proven that the smartphone market is just a miniscule part of the whole mobile phone market in India, it is indeed growing faster than any other. This lucrative opportunity has provided us, the consumers with a lot of choices and that includes various Chinese companies like Gionee, Huawei, Lenovo and now ZTE. The company has launched four mid range devices in the Blade range as a part of their complete portfolio roll out.
