Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core 64-bit SoC with LTE announced

Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 616 processor with 4G LTE support in their Snapdragon 600 lineup. It is the successor of the Snapdragon 615 SoC that was introduced last year. This has the same Quad-core ARM Cortex A53 + Quad-core ARM Cortex A53 arrangement, but the second set of Cortex A53 cores are clocked at 1.2GHz per core, compared to 1GHz in the Snapdragon 615 processor. Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 and Snapdragon 412 quad-core processors announced

Qualcomm has announced two new processors, one in the Snapdragon 200 series and other in the Snapdragon 400 series. The new Snapdragon 212 SoC, the company’s latest quad-core processor has multi-mode 3G/4G LTE Advanced and LTE Dual SIM aimed at entry-level smartphones and tablets. It uses the same ARM Cortex A7 CPU seen on the Snapdragon 210, but the clock speed has been increased from 1.1 GHz to 1.3 GHz per core. The Snapdragon 412 quad-core processor uses 64-bit Cortex A53 CPUs similar to the Snapdragon 410, but the clock speed has been increased from 1.2 GHz to 1.4 GHz per core and the memory bandwidth has been increased from 533 MHz to 600 MHz. Qualcomm announces WiPower wireless charging technology for metal smartphones

Qualcomm has announced a new wireless technology especially for mobile phone made of metal exteriors. Dubbed as WiPower, the technology is compliant with the Rezence standard that is based on Near Field Magnetic Resonance technology.

Qualcomm to slash 15% workforce, outlines restructuring plan

Qualcomm has announced that it reported $1.2 billion in net income during the third fiscal quarter of 2015, down from $2.2 billion a year ago. The company also said that it is reducing its workforce by 15%.

Qualcomm Snapragon 810-powered Project Tango smartphone coming in Q3 2015

At the Google I/O 2015 yesterday, Google announced its partnership with Qualcomm for its next generation Project Tango smartphone development platform. Project Tango combines the camera, gyroscope, and accelerometer to estimate six degree of freedom motion tracking, providing developers the ability to track 3D motion of a device while simultaneously creating a map of the environment. NTT Docomo becomes the first operator to adopt Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID Biometrics Platform

Qualcomm has just announced that the Japanese company, NTT Docomo has become the first operator to adopt Qualcomm Snapdragon Sensor ID Biometrics Platform. The technology will be used for mobile biometric authentication service starting later this month in Japan.

Qualcomm and Daimler announce collaboration to bring connected car technology

Qualcomm has announced its new Zeroth Platform at the MWC 2015. It is optimized for premium mobile devices based on Snapdragon 820 processor. It uses custom 64-bit CPU architecture in their own ARMv8-based Qualcomm Kryo CPU. It will be based on FinFET process node, but currently it is not clear if it will be based on 16nm or 14nm process.
