LG has released four smartphones under its Aka line of smartphones in Korea today. Announced last month, the smartphones have animated eyes above the interchangeable protective panel that express different emotions.

LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update to roll out starting this week

LG just announced that it would start rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its flagship LG G3 smartphone this week starting from Poland. This would be followed by other key markets in future, said the Korean giant. LG G Watch R lands on the US Google Play Store for $299

The LG G Watch R has arrived on Google Play Store in the United States. Announced in August, the Android Wear smartwatch from LG is priced at $299 and will ship out in 1-2 days after the order is placed.

LG G2 Lite and L Prime with Android 4.4 announced

LG L Prime

LG has introduced G2 Lite (D295) and L Prime (D337) in Brazil. These new smartphones that are variants of L Fino and L Bello smartphones that were launched in India recently.  The LG G2 Lite has a 4.5-inch WVGA IPS screen, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. The L Prime has a 5-inch FWVGA IPS screen, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. Both these run on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with premium UX features.

LG and Google ink 10 year global patent license agreement

LG and Google have signed a 10 year global patent cross-licensing agreement covering a broad range of products and technologies. The deal also includes existing patents and the ones that will be filed over the period of next ten years.

LG launched the G3 Beat smartphone in India back in September. We brought you the unboxing of the smartphone recently, here we have the benchmarks of the G3 Beat. The phone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8928) processor with ARM Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.19 GHz per core. It  has Adreno 305 GPU. It has a 5-inch (1280 × 720 pixels) HD IPS display, runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and has 1GB of RAM. Check out the synthetic benchmark scores. LG Display announces 5.3-inch 1080p smartphone display with 0.7mm ultra narrow bezel

LG Display has introduced a 5.3-inch Full HD LCD panel for smartphones with just 0.7mm bezel on the sides. The company introduced world’s slimmest 5.2-inch 1080p smartphone display last year, which was just 2.2mm thin with a 2.3mm bezel. The new smartphone display becomes the world’s narrow bezel display panel,  narrower than the 0.8mm thickness of a credit card. Sharp introduced the Aquos Crystal and Aquos Crystal X smartphones recently, which had minimal bezel. LG reports Q3 2014 earnings, record 16.8 million smartphones shipped

LG Electronics has announced their earnings for Q3 2014, in which it has reported net profit of 203 billion Won (US$ 194 million) with operating profits of 461.3 billion Won (US$ 449.61 million). Both the operating profits and net profits were down compared to last quarter, but the these have doubled compared to the quarter a year earlier. LG isai VL with 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 3GB RAM and VoLTE announced

LG introduced the Isai FL (LGL24) for Japanese operator KDDI back in May. Today the company has refreshed the smartphone and introduced a new variant called isai VL (LGV31) with 3GB RAM and Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) support. Other specifications are similar to the Isai FL, including a 5.5-inch (2560×1440 pixels) Quad HD IPS display, 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330, Android 4.4 (KitKat), 13.2-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 4K video recording and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. LG G Watch R to roll out globally starting from November

LG G Watch R rolled out in Korea last week, today the company has announced that it would roll out in Europe starting from November.  It was unveiled ahead of IFA and has a 1.3-inch (320 x 320 pixels) P-OLED Display, powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and is based on Android Wear platform. LG NUCLUN Octa-Core processor announced, debuts in G3 Screen smartphone

LG just announced NUCLUN (pronounced NOO-klun), the company’s first SoC targeted at high-end smartphone. It is an Octa-Core processor with four 1.5GHz cores ARM Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A7 cores. It is based on ARM big.LITTLE technology for better multitasking capabilities and even has  LTE-A Cat.6 support  for maximum download speeds of up to 225Mbps. The L45 Dual (X132) is an upgraded version of the L40 with the same 3.5-inch HVGA screen, similar size and Android 4.4 (KitKat), but this is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, has a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. LG has officially launched the L Bello, the company’s latest mid-range L series smartphone in India.
