LG Electronics today announced its preliminary earnings results for the first quarter of 2017, which will be announced later this year. The company expects to make 14.7 trillion Korean won and operating profit of 921.5 billion korean won. It expects revenues to be 9.7% higher and operating profit 82.4% higher than the same period last year, ts second-best in quarterly profits ever. LG introduced its flagship G6 smartphone at its MWC 2017 event in Barcelona back in February. The company started taking pre-orders for the smartphone across several U.S. carriers last month, today it has announced that it will roll out globally starting from week, starting from the U.S. tomorrow, April 7th through 11 North American mobile carriers including Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and US Cellular. LG announced the 6th Generation G smartphone at MWC and it has been getting praises from all over. We ourselves quite liked the device and you can read all about it in our review. But Samsung is coming out with the S8 soon with all guns blazing. LG has launched Stylus 3, the company’s latest smartphone with a stylus pen in India. It was introduced ahead of CES 2017 and packs a 5.7-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display and has a 1.8mm diameter fiber-tip stylus that promises feel and feedback of an actual pen when writing on the screen. It also has a fingerprint scanner and enhanced UX with Pen Pop 2.0 as well as the popular Pen Keeper and Screen-off Memo.
Following the footpath of Samsung, LG has announced the tentative launch date of its own mobile payments service in its home country. The number 5 seems to be quite problematic for the Koreans. Samsung faced some of the worst reviews ever for a flagship product and one of the worst sales performance in their flagship Galaxy S line-up with the S5. The S5 did bring in some improvements but those were minor and in the process almost made some bad decisions including larger bezels etc. All these small things led to very disappointing sales figures and Samsung knew that had to start afresh. Project Zero was born and eventually resulted in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices which were a huge leap from their preceding model. They were a step in the right direction and Samsung has been doing everything perfectly well with their smartphones since except for the Note7 battery exploding issues which did shake things up a bit but still resulted in one of the most profitable years for Samsung with the S7 series. LG introduced TONE Studio (HBS-W120) Bluetooth headset ahead of CES back in December last year and also showcased it at the MWC a few weeks back. Today it has announced that it has started rolling out the headset globally. It has LG’s around-the-neck headset design, and the company says that it is the world’s first wearable audio device to deliver 3D surround sound on the go.
